Michele Bartoli
Michele Bartoli (born 27 May 1970, in Pisa) is a retired Italian road racing cyclist. Bartoli was a professional cyclist from 1992 until 2004 and was one of the most successful classic cycle races, single-day classics specialists of his generation, especially in the Italian and Belgian races. On his palmarès are three of the five Cycling monument, monuments of cycling—five in total: the 1996 Tour of Flanders, the 1997 Liège–Bastogne–Liège, 1997 and 1998 Liège–Bastogne–Liège and the 2002 and 2003 Giro di Lombardia. Mario Aerts
Mario Aerts (born 31 December 1974 in Herentals, Belgium) is a former professional road bicycle racer, who competed between 1996 and 2011. He competed for three teams: Vlaanderen 2002, and the Lotto team through various sponsorships, competing with that particular team for twelve seasons during his career. During this time, he raced in the Tours de France, the Giro d'Italia, and the Vuelta a España. In the 2007 cycling season, he finished in these three major stage races in cycling. He was only the 25th racer in the history of cycling to achieve this. Aerts won the Grand Prix d'Isbergues in 1996, Circuit Franco Belge in 2001, the Giro della Provincia di Lucca in 2001, and most notably La Flèche Wallonne in 2002; he did not win a professional race after that. Bretagne Classic
The Bretagne Classic, also called Bretagne Classic Ouest-France, is an elite classic cycle races, cycling classic held annually in late summer around the Brittany, Breton village of Plouay in western France. The race was originally named Grand-Prix de Plouay and, from 1989 to 2015, GP Ouest-France. It was included in the inaugural UCI ProTour in 2005 and in 2011 in its successor, the UCI World Tour. Since 2016 it is called Bretagne Classic Ouest-France. Since 2002, a women's event, the Classic Lorient Agglomération is organized on Saturday, the day before the men's race. Serge Baguet
Serge Baguet (18 August 1969 – 9 February 2017) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer. Career He was the son of the ex-cyclist Roger Baguet. He was married to Sandra Rasschaert and they have a son (Sam). Baguet started his professional cycling career in 1991. He worked for Lotto for five years and one year for Vlaanderen 2002. His major victories were stages in the Tour du Limousin and the Tour of Britain. After six years pro-cycling, he became a roofer. In 2000, he made a comeback in the cycling-milieu (again with Lotto) and won his biggest victory in his career: a stage in the Tour de France. In 2005 he won two stages in the Vuelta a Andalucía and became Belgian national cycling champion. In 2006 and 2007, Baguet rode for the second big Belgian UCI ProTeam: Quick Step-Innergetic. Bo Hamburger (born 24 May 1970 in Frederiksberg) is a Denmark, Danish former professional Bicycle road racing, road racing cyclist. He retired in 2006. Biography After ending his career, Hamburger started a building company and a bike shop. He was the leading directeur sportif for in 2013 and 2014. Doping He was fired from Team CSC in 2001, after a positive Erythropoietin, EPO test. He was later cleared legally since the B test was below the limit, but still higher than normal. Since then, the Danish Cycle Union refused to let Hamburger represent Denmark. Hamburger fought the exclusion through legal means. Maarten Jan den Bakker (born 26 January 1969) is a retired road bicycle racer from the Netherlands, who was a professional rider from 1990 to 2008. He won the Dutch National Road Race Championships twice and he participated in nine Tours de France, completing each of them. In 2008, Den Bakker ended his career. Nico Mattan (born 17 July 1971) is a Belgian former road racing cyclist. His greatest achievement in cycling was winning the Gent–Wevelgem classic in 2005. In 2005 Mattan won the Gent–Wevelgem in a controversial way, as there were claims that he used Publicity cars to sprint past Juan Antonio Flecha. He also won 2 prologues of Paris–Nice, in 2001 and 2003. He is known to be very superstitious, for instance his lucky number is 17 (the date of his birthdate), if his race number is 17 or if the ciphers add up to 17, he will look very happy and believes he will win. Once he got number 13 and wore it upside down to avoid bad luck because he heard on a 13th that he wouldn't be able to race anymore because of heart problems and lost the leader's jersey in Paris–Nice on a 13th. Mapei was an Italian-based road bicycle racing team active from 1993 to 2002, named after sponsoring firm Mapei. Mapei was one of the strongest teams during the late 1990s, and ranked as the strongest Union Cycliste Internationale, UCI team in 1994–2000 and 2002. History While started in 1993 (taking the Eldor-Viner team midseason), the Mapei team already became an international top team one year later when it merged with the Spanish Clas-Cajastur for the 1994 season. Plouay
Plouay (; ) is a commune in the Morbihan department in Brittany in north-western France. Plouay hosts the GP Ouest-France and the GP de Plouay, annual cycling races (a men's and women's race, respectively). It was also the location of the UCI Road World Championships in 2000.
