2000 Florida Democratic Presidential Primary
The 2000 Florida Democratic presidential primary took place on March 14, 2000, the second primary Tuesday of the primary season, as one of six states voting on the same day in the Democratic Party primaries for the 2000 presidential election. The Florida primary was a closed primary, with the state awarding the largest amount of delegates towards the 2000 Democratic National Convention with 186 delegates, of whom 161 were pledged delegates allocated on the basis of the primary results. Vice president Al Gore was the clear winner of the Florida primary, receiving almost 82% of the vote and 144 delegates, winning every county in the state and significantly extending his delegate lead. Senator Bill Bradley placed second with only around 18% of the vote and 17 delegates. Florida's 3rd Congressional District
Florida's 3rd congressional district is an electoral district of the United States House of Representatives located in Florida. It presently comprises a large section of northern Florida, including the entire counties of Alachua, Clay, Putnam, Bradford, and Union, along with the majority of Marion County. The cities of Gainesville and Palatka are in the district as well as part of Ocala (its northern suburbs). Some Jacksonville suburbs such as Middleburg, Green Cove Springs, and Orange Park are also in the district. Redistricting in Florida, effective for the 2012 federal elections, radically altered the nature of the 3rd district. Florida's 7th congressional district is a congressional district in the north central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. From 2003 to 2013, the district consisted of the suburban area between Orlando and Daytona Beach and included St. Augustine. The district included all of Flagler and St. Johns Counties; a very small portion of eastern Putnam County; parts of Volusia County, including portions of DeLand, Deltona, Ormond Beach, and Daytona Beach; much of western Seminole County; and a small, predominantly suburban portion of Orange County. Following court-ordered redistricting in 2015, the district now includes all of Seminole County and northern Orange County, including much of downtown and northern Orlando and the cities of Maitland and Winter Park. Florida's 22nd Congressional District
Florida's 22nd congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in Southeast Florida. It encompasses the coastline of Broward County to southern Palm Beach County. The district includes Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs and part of Pompano Beach. It also includes Florida Atlantic University and Port Everglades, the third busiest cruise port in the world. The district was most recently represented by Democrat Ted Deutch, who represented Florida's 22nd congressional district from 2017 after he was redistricted from Florida's 21st congressional district until his resignation on September 30, 2022. Florida's 6th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Florida. The district is located on the Eastern Florida Coast and stretches from the southern Jacksonville suburbs to New Smyrna Beach. It includes the city of Daytona Beach. From 2003 to 2013 the district stretched from the St. Johns River and Jacksonville, sweeping through North Central Florida, encompassing portions of Gainesville and Ocala, and meandered down to the northern tip of the Greater Orlando area in Lake County. Florida's 21st Congressional District
Florida's 21st congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in Southeast Florida. It includes Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. From 2003 to 2012, the 21st district was in Miami-Dade County and included many of Miami's western suburbs, such as Hialeah, Olympia Heights and Cutler Bay. In December 2015, Florida underwent redistricting due to a Florida Supreme Court ruling. Much of the 21st district became the 22nd district and was pushed further into Broward County. In the process, it absorbed the part of Broward County that had previously been in the neighboring 22nd district, which had been renumbered the 21st. This came after the state supreme court urged the creation of one district covering most of Palm Beach County and another covering most of Broward County and a part of Palm Beach. Florida's 5th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Florida. It extends along Florida's northern boundary from Jacksonville to Tallahassee. The district includes all of Baker, Gadsden, Hamilton and Madison counties and portions of Columbia, Duval, Jefferson, and Leon counties. It is a minority-majority district. Florida's 20th congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in Southeast Florida. It is currently held by Democrat Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, who was elected in a January 2022 special election, following the death of Alcee Hastings on April 6, 2021. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index (CPVI) rating of D+25, it is one of the most Democratic districts in Florida. The district includes most of the majority-black precincts in and around western and central Broward County and small portion of southeastern Palm Beach County, including places like North Lauderdale, Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes, Tamarac, Lake Park, Riviera Beach, Plantation, and Dania Beach, along with parts of Pompano Beach and Sunrise.
