19th IIFA Awards
This was the 19th edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards. This edition was held in Thailand on 22-24 June 2018. This was – the second time this event was held in Thailand after 2008. The show was hosted by Karan Johar and Ritesh Deshmukh. The awards were given – the Bollywood films in 2017.' '' Tumhari Sulu'' led the ceremony with 7 nominations, followed by '' Jagga Jasoos'' with 6 nominations and '' Bareilly Ki Barfi'' and ''Newton'' with 5 nominations. Seema Pahwa received dual nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her performances in ''Bareilly Ki Barfi'' and '' Shubh Mangal Saavdhan'', but lost to Meher Vij who won the award for '' Secret Superstar''. Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari (born 15 October 1979) is an Indian filmmaker and writer. After working in advertising for several years, she made her debut by directing the 2016 comedy drama ''Nil Battey Sannata''. The film garnered critical acclaim and Tiwari went on to direct its Tamil remake entitled '' Amma Kanakku''. She had previously served as the Executive Creative Director at Leo Burnett before she moved on to pursue a filmmaking career. Amit V Masurkar is an Indian film director and screenwriter. He directed the independent comedy film Sulemani Keeda. His second feature film, Newton was selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards. ''Hindi Medium'' is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film written and directed by Saket Chaudhary, and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Bhushan Kumar under their respective banners Maddock Films and T-Series. It stars Irrfan Khan, Saba Qamar, Dishita Sehgal, Deepak Dobriyal and Amrita Singh. Set in Delhi, the plot centres on a couple's struggle to get their daughter admitted to a prestigious English-medium school in order to rise in society.
