The 1999–2000 Omani League was the 24th edition of the top football league in Oman. Dhofar S.C.S.C. were defending their title, having won the 1998–99 Omani League season. Al-Oruba SC emerged as the champions of the 1999–2000 Omani League with a total of 42 points. Teams This season the league had 10 teams. Oman Club and Al-Ittihad Club were relegated to the Second Division League after finishing in the relegation zone in the 1998–99 season. The relegated teams were replaced by Second Division League teams Ruwi Club and Bawshar Club. The Oman Professional League (; known as the ''Omantel Professional League'' for sponsorship reasons), previously known as the Omantel Elite League, is the top division of the Oman Football Association, and was officially created in 1976. Currently, the most successful team in the league is Dhofar S.C.S.C., Dhofar with 12 titles to their name. Evolution to a professional league In 2010, during the annual draw for the Sultan Qaboos Cup, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, granted the Oman Football Association, OFA an annual 2.6 million Omani Rial, rial (approximately 6.7 million US Dollars, dollars) till the year 2015 to further boost the development of the league. The Sultan Qaboos Stadium at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex (), also known locally as Boshar (), is a government-owned multi-purpose stadium in the Boshar district of Muscat, Oman.
