The 1999 New York City Marathon was the 30th running of the annual marathon race in New York City, New York, which took place on Sunday, November 7. The men's elite race was won by Kenya's Joseph Chebet in a time of 2:09:14 hours while the women's race was won by Mexico's Adriana Fernández in 2:25:06. Danilo Goffi
Danilo Goffi (born 3 December 1972, in Legnano) is a former Italian long-distance runner, who specializes in the marathon. He represented his country at the 1996 Summer Olympics and has also competed at the World Championships in Athletics. He was the silver medallist in the marathon at the 1998 European Athletics Championships. He won two times the Italian national championships of the marathon; the first time in 1995 when he was 23 years old, and the second time, 19 years after in 2014 when he was 42. Biography Goffi won the 1995 Venice Marathon and was part of the Italian bronze medal-winning team at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships that year. He won the Turin Marathon in 2005 and also competed at the 2010 edition of the race, finishing in fifth place. Germán Silva Martínez (born 9 January 1968 in Zacatlán, Puebla) is a Mexican former long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon. His foremost achievements were back-to-back victories at the New York City Marathon in 1994 and 1995. He represented Mexico twice at the Summer Olympics, in 1992 and 1996. He also competed at the World Championships in Athletics on two occasions. His personal best for the marathon is two hours, eight minutes, and 56 seconds. Cosmas Ndeti (born 24 November 1971) is a three-time winner of the Boston Marathon. He was the winner of the 1993, 1994, and 1995 races. He set the course record in 1994 with a time of 2:07:15, which was also the best marathon performance in 1994. That course record stood for 12 years until it was broken by one second when Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot, a fellow Kenyan, won the 2006 race.
