American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. Erik Mathews Flowers (born March 1, 1978) is a former professional American and Canadian football defensive end and linebacker. He was drafted in the first round (26th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He played college football at Arizona State and Trinity Valley Community College. In his career, Flowers was also a member of the Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Rams, and Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He was also a member of the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). His son, Dimitri Flowers, has played fullback for the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars. Peter Sirmon (born February 18, 1977) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans and played for them for his entire career from 2000 to 2006.
