The 1999 Acura Classic was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts that was part of the Tier II category of the 1999 WTA Tour. It was the 26th edition of the tournament and took place at the Manhattan Country Club in Manhattan Beach, California, United States, from August 9 through August 15, 1999. WTA Tier II Tournaments
The WTA Tier II tournaments were Women's Tennis Association tennis second-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years, with tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled. Nathalie Tauziat
Nathalie Tauziat (born 17 October 1967) is a French former professional tennis player and coach. She was the runner-up in women's singles at the 1998 Wimbledon Championships and runner-up in the women's doubles at the 2001 US Open partnering Kimberly Po-Messerli. She reached a career-high ranking of world No. 3 in both singles and doubles. She previously coached Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu and compatriot Harmony Tan. Early life Tauziat was born in Bangui, Central African Republic, where she lived for the first eight years of her life.
