1998 Prague Open
The 1998 Paegas Czech Open, also known as the Prague Open, was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts in Prague, Czech Republic that was part of the World Series of the 1998 ATP Tour. It was the twelfth edition of the tournament and was held from 27 April until 3 May 1998. Unseeded Fernando Meligeni won the singles title. ATP International Series
The ATP International Series (known from 1990 to 1999 as the ATP World Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally as part of the ATP Tour from 2000 to 2008. The series was renamed ATP Tour 250 in 2009. International Series offered players cash prizes (tournaments have purses from $416,000 to $1,000,000) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. They generally offered less prize money and fewer points than the ATP International Series Gold, but more than tournaments on the ATP Challenger Series. Fernando Meligeni
Fernando Ariel Meligeni (born 12 April 1971), nicknamed ''Fininho'' (diminutive form in Portuguese for ''thin''), is a Brazilian former professional tennis player. He won three singles (and 7 doubles) titles and reached the semifinals of both the 1999 French Open and the 1996 Summer Olympics. He was known for taking matches to the limit (tiebreaks and five sets). His favorite surface was clay. Personal life Meligeni was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina but moved with his family to São Paulo, Brazil, when he was four years old. He is of Italian descent. He has a younger sister, Paula, the mother of two tennis players, Felipe and Carolina Meligeni Alves. Wayne Arthurs (tennis)
Wayne Arthurs (born 18 March 1971) is a retired Australian professional tennis player. Career His serve was his strongest weapon by far, and had been referred to as the "best in the world" by several of his fellow players, including Jim Courier, Andre Agassi, Thomas Johansson, and Ivo Karlović. He consistently had one of the highest ace counts on the ATP Tour and favours a serve-and-volley style of play. Arthurs won 12 ATP doubles titles in his career. In February 2005 he achieved a belated breakthrough in singles by winning the ATP event in Scottsdale, United States, the Tennis Channel Open, in straight sets over Croat Mario Ančić. Andrew Kratzmann (born 3 November 1971 in Murgon, Queensland, Australia) is a former professional male tennis player from Australia. Kratzmann turned professional in 1990 and was known as a doubles specialist, often partnering with his brother Mark. Kratzmann teamed up with Roger Federer in the men's doubles at Wimbledon in 2000. John Barrett (tennis)
John Edward Barrett, (born 17 April 1931) is a British former tennis player, television commentator and author. He was born in Mill Hill, North West London, the son of Alfred Edward Barrett, a leaf tobacco merchant, and Margaret Helen Barrett (née Walker). He had one sister, Irene Margaret Leppington (1925–2009), a research chemist. His father had the rare distinction of having played both for Leicester Tigers RFC as a wing three-quarter and for Leicester Fosse FC (the former Leicester City) as a wing half. Ctislav Doseděl
Ctislav Doseděl (; born 10 August 1970), also known as Sláva Doseděl, is a Czech former tennis player. He turned professional in 1989. Career Doseděl won three singles titles and one doubles titles during his career. The right-hander reached the quarter-finals of the 1999 US Open by defeating Jim Courier, Fernando Meligeni, Fredrik Jonsson and Jiří Novák before losing to Todd Martin. He also got to the semifinals of the 1994 Rome Masters and achieved his career-high ATP singles ranking of World No. 26 in October 1994. His tennis career ended with the 2001 US Open. Doseděl is still involved in professional tennis post retirement and is, as of June 2012, coaching top 100 singles player Lukáš Rosol and most recently top 250 player Jonáš Forejtek of the Czech Republic. Fredrik Bergh (born 22 April 1975) is a former professional tennis player from Sweden. Bergh, a doubles specialist, appeared in five Grand Slam tournaments. He partnered Peter Nyborg in four of them and the pair never failed to make it past the first round. At the 2000 French Open he made the third round of the mixed doubles, with Meghann Shaughnessy. He had his best year in 1998, reaching the final of two events on the ATP Tour, in Prague and Split.
