1998 Big West Conference Baseball Tournament
The 1998 Big West Conference baseball tournament determined the conference champion for the Big West Conference at the end of the 1998 season. The six teams met at Cal State Fullerton's on campus venue, Titan Field from May 14 through 17. This would be the last Big West Conference postseason championship event, as the tournament was discontinued after the 1998 season. It will return in 2025 after a 27-year hiatus. Seeding and format The top team from each of the conference's two divisions after the regular season received the top two seeds, while the four teams with the highest conference winning percentage regardless of division were seeded three through six in the double-elimination tournament. Double-elimination Tournament
A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. It stands in contrast to a single-elimination tournament, in which only ''one'' defeat results in elimination. Dave Snow
David Snow is a former American college baseball coach. He served as head coach of the Loyola Marymount Lions baseball team, leading them to the 1986 College World Series and later as the head coach of the Long Beach State 49ers baseball team, whom he led to the College World Series in 1989, 1991, 1993, and 1998. He retired from coaching in 2001 after a 29 year career that also included a head coaching job at Los Angeles Valley College and time as an assistant to Cal State Fullerton coach Augie Garrido. Playing career Snow played third base at Bellflower High School in Bellflower, California. He was drafted in the 17th round of the 1968 Major League Baseball Draft by the Houston Astros. Snow decided not to sign with Houston, and attended Cerritos College. Snow was the third baseman for the Falcons for the 1969 and 1970 seasons. 2025 Big West Conference Baseball Tournament
The 2025 Big West Conference baseball tournament will determine the conference champion for the Big West Conference at the end of the 2025 NCAA Division I baseball season, 2025 season. The top five teams will meet at Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball, Cal State Fullerton's on campus venue, Goodwin Field from May 21 through 24. This will be the first Big West Conference postseason championship event since the 1998 NCAA Division I baseball season, 1998 season, ending a 27-year hiatus. Seeding and format The top five finishers from the regular season will be seeded one through five based on conference winning percentage. Big West Conference
The Big West Conference (BWC) is an American collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference whose member institutions participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's NCAA Division I, Division I. The conference was originally formed on July 1, 1969, as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and in 1988 was renamed the Big West Conference. The conference stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season. Among the conference's 11 member institutions, 10 are located in California (nine in Southern California alone), and one is located in Hawaii (though the Hawaii member is leaving for the Mountain West Conference, effective July 1, 2026). All of the current schools are public universities, with the California schools evenly split between the California State University and the University of California systems. Cal State Fullerton Titans Baseball
The Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball team represents California State University, Fullerton in NCAA Division I college baseball. Along with the other CSUF athletic teams, the baseball team participates in the Big West Conference. Since its early days, Titan Baseball has been considered an elite program in college baseball, making 18 College World Series appearances and winning four national championships (1979, 1984, 1995, and 2004). The Titans play their home games on Fullerton's campus at Goodwin Field and are currently coached by Jason Dietrich. Goodwin Field is a 3,500-seat baseball park in the western United States, located in Fullerton, California. On the campus of California State University, Fullerton, it is primarily the home field of the four-time national champion CSUF Titans of the NCAA's Big West Conference. Big West Conference Baseball Tournament
The Big West Conference baseball tournament is the conference championship tournament for the NCAA Division I Big West Conference. The winner of the tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I baseball tournament.
