1997 Minnesota Vikings Season
The 1997 season was the Minnesota Vikings' 37th in the National Football League (NFL) and their sixth under head coach Dennis Green. Despite an 8–2 start, the Vikings would go on to lose five consecutive matches, finishing fourth in the division. The team ultimately won their final game of the regular season, matching their 9–7 record from 1996 and claiming the 6th seed in the playoffs for a second consecutive year. In the wild card round against the New York Giants, the Vikings came back from a 22–13 deficit with 90 seconds to play to win 23–22, their first playoff victory since 1988. The National Football Conference – Northern Division or NFC North is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that typically lines up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the Guard (American football), offensive guards; however, he may also line up opposite one of the offensive Tackle (gridiron football position), tackles. Tony Williams (born July 9, 1975) is an American former professional football defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 1997 NFL draft. He played college football at Memphis. Williams also played for the Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. Stalin D. Colinet ( ; born July 17, 1974) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive tackle and defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Boston College Eagles. Early life Colinet was born in New York, to a Dominican mother, and a Haitian father. Torrian Gray
Torrian Gray (born March 18, 1974) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the defensive backs coach at the University of South Carolina. Also known by the nickname “Big Play Torrian Gray”. College career Gray was three times an all-Big East selection for the Virginia Tech Hokies. His college teams won two Big East championships and in 1995, upset the Texas Longhorns in the 1995 Sugar Bowl. Professional career Following his playing career at Tech, Gray was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings 49th overall in the second round of the 1997 NFL draft.
