This is a list of Italian television related events from 1997. Events The RAI-Mediaset duopoly shows the first signs of crisis; several shows by the two estates are suspended or change their host for low ratings, while the new media, as Internet and the satellite television, spread also in Italy. * July 31. The Maccanico law, ruling the telecommunications, is approved by Italian Parliament. A single subject is forbidden to own more than 20% of national networks and 30% of the economic resources; RAI 3 must become a service channel, publicity free; AGCOM (Autorità per le garanzie nelle comunicazioni) is instituted. The law should terminate the RAI-Mediaset duopoly, but its concrete application is postponed to 2003 (actually, it will remain on paper). A tabloid talk show is a subgenre of the talk show genre that emphasizes controversial and sensationalistic topical subject matter. The subgenre originated in the United States and achieved peak viewership from the mid-1980s through the end of the 1990s. Airing mostly during the day and distributed mostly through television syndication, tabloid talk shows originated in the 1960s and early 1970s with series hosted by Joe Pyne, Les Crane, and Phil Donahue; the format was popularized by personal confession-filled ''The Oprah Winfrey Show'', which debuted nationally in 1986. The Serie A (), officially known as Serie A Enilive in Italy and Serie A Made in Italy abroad for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Italy and the highest tier of the Italian football league system. ''Fantastico'' was an Italian Saturday night variety show broadcast by Rai 1 from 1979 to 1991, with an interruption in 1980, when it was replaced by the game show ''Scacco Matto''. The TV program was linked with the Italian national lottery, and every edition consisted of 13 episodes with the final episode broadcast on 6 January, with the extraction of the winning tickets.Aldo Grasso – Massimo Scaglioni, ''Enciclopedia della Televisione'', Garzanti, Milano, 1996 – 2003. Giancarlo Magalli (born 5 July 1947) is an Italian television writer, presenter and actor. Life and career Born in Rome, Magalli studied at the Massimiliano Massimo Institute, Istituto Massimiliano Massimo, having Mario Draghi and Luca Cordero di Montezemolo as classmates. He started his artistic career as an entertainer in the first Italian tourist village at the end of the 1960s. In the seventies he became collaborator of Pippo Franco, writing his monologues. Enrico Montesano
Enrico Montesano (born 7 June 1945) is an Italian actor, comedian, television host, screenwriter and showman. Career Montesano comes from a family involved in theatre, and he made his debut in 1966 in a show named ''Humor nero'', alongside of Vittorio Metz. Later he became a very popular actor both on theatre and on television, thanks to his burlesque and brilliant style, and so during seventies he took part in several Italian comedies.
