YTV (Canadian TV Channel)
YTV (stylized as УTV) is a Television in Canada, Canadian English language Discretionary service, discretionary specialty channel owned by YTV Canada, Inc. a subsidiary of Corus Entertainment. The channel and its programming is targeted at children and young teenagers. Its name was originally thought to be an abbreviation for "Youth Television", though the channel's website has denied this. The channel was launched on September 1, 1988 by owners Rogers Media and CUC Broadcasting upon launch. In 1995, Shaw Communications acquired CUC's 34% stake and in 1998, it acquired Rogers' remaining interest of the channel, before Shaw's media division was spun off to form Corus Entertainment in 1999. Treehouse TV
Treehouse TV (commonly known as Treehouse) is a Canadian English-language Discretionary service, discretionary specialty channel that was launched in 1997. Its name comes from sister network YTV (Canadian TV channel), YTV's former programming block, "#The Treehouse block (YTV), The Treehouse". The channel is owned by YTV (Canadian TV channel), YTV Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of Corus Entertainment. Having launched on November 1, 1997, it is the first full-day preschool-oriented TV channel in Canada. Development of a separate channel started when YTV aired preschool shows as part of its weekday morning line-up. This block of shows was given the name "The Treehouse" in 1994. On November 1, 1997, Treehouse TV launched as its own channel, airing from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily. The channel, as of 2003, is currently a 24-hour broadcaster. Cartoon Network (formerly Teletoon) is a Canadian English-language discretionary specialty channel owned by Corus Entertainment. The channel primarily broadcasts animated series aimed at children and teenagers. It was launched on October 17, 1997, by Teletoon Canada, Inc., a consortium of Western International Communications and Astral Media (via their specialty channel Family Channel), Shaw Communications (via its specialty channel YTV), and the animation studios Cinar and Nelvana. DTour (styled as DTOUR) is a Canadian English language discretionary specialty channel owned by Corus Entertainment. The channel was originally established by Canwest in 1997 as Prime, a cable companion to Global with a general entertainment format focusing on classic series and programming acquired from Global and CH. In 2006, the channel was re-branded as TVTropolis, carrying a similar format but with a focus on contemporary sitcoms and dramas from the 1980s and 1990s, as well as pop culture-themed programs. Adopting its current branding in 2013, DTour largely drew its acquired programming from the U.S.-based Travel Channel, while also airing limited general-interest programing. Caillou
''Caillou'' ( ; , stylized in lowercase) is an animated educational children's television series that aired on Teletoon (both English and French versions) with the first episode airing on the former channel on September 15, 1997 until the fourth season. After that, the fifth season channel was moved to Treehouse TV, and the series finale aired on April 17, 2011. It also aired on PBS and the PBS Kids Channel. A series reboot was announced in 2023 with a release date set to debut later that year on Peacock with 52 eleven-minute episodes, but was delayed for undisclosed reasons to February 15, 2024, with a batch of seven episodes.
