The 1997 Chicago Bears season was their 78th regular season completed in the National Football League (NFL). The team finished with a 4–12 record under head coach Dave Wannstedt. It was the team's first 4-win season since they posted a 4–10 record in 1975. The team allowed a franchise-record 421 points in 1997. NFC Central
The National Football Conference – Northern Division or NFC North is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Nicknamed the "Black and Blue Division" for the rough and tough rivalry games between the teams, it currently has four members: the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings, with the latter three based within most definitions of the Upper Midwest. Ed McCaskey
Edward W. McCaskey (April 27, 1919 – April 8, 2003) was an American football executive who was the chairman of the Chicago Bears. The husband of Bears principal owner Virginia Halas McCaskey, he also served as vice president and treasurer for the team. Military career Upon graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, McCaskey served in the 80th Division of the United States Army during World War II for two-and-a-half years. Though he was later injured, he refused the Purple Heart, and was subsequently awarded the Bronze Star Medal and a combat infantry badge. Personal life After the war, McCaskey became a salesman and a singer in a band. He attempted to join the Harry James Band but lost out to Frank Sinatra. Missouri State Bears Football
The Missouri State Bears football program is the college football team that represents Missouri State University located in Springfield, Missouri, United States. Missouri State competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and is a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The program is in the two-year transition up to the FBS subdivision; it will join Conference USA in 2025 and become a full FBS member in 2026. The school was known as Southwest Missouri State until 2005 when they changed the name to Missouri State. A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that typically lines up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the Guard (American football), offensive guards; however, he may also line up opposite one of the offensive Tackle (gridiron football position), tackles. Mike Miano
Mike Miano (born December 17, 1973, in St. Louis, Missouri) is a former American football player who played the position of defensive tackle. He is currently a teacher working for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA.) High school career Miano attended Affton High School in St.Louis, Missouri, where he starred in football and wrestling from 1988 to 1992. In football, he won All-Conference, All-District, All-Metro and All-State honors as a defensive and offensive lineman. In wrestling he made it to the State Championship Tournament in the heavyweight division.
