1996–97 Primera División A Season
Primera División A ''(Méxican First A Division)'' is a Mexican football tournament. This was the first short tournament played in any of the divisions in Mexico composed of Invieno 1996 and Verano 1997. Tigres UANL were able to gain direct promotion to Primera Division for the 1997-98 season after winning both short tournaments in 1996-97. Changes for the 1996–97 season * Tigres UANL were demoted from Liga MX * Tigrillos UANL were promoted from Segunda División. * Pachuca were promoted to Liga MX * Gallos Blancos de Hermosillo relocated to Pachuca and renamed Atlético Hidalgo. * Real Sociedad de Zacatecas new team. Ascenso MX
Ascenso MX, also known as Ascenso BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons, was a professional association football league in Mexico and the second level of the Mexican football league system. Formerly known as Primera División A de México (1994–2009) and also as Liga de Ascenso (2009–2012). The champions of the competition was promoted to Liga MX (top level), and the bottom team was relegated to Liga Premier (third level). In 2012, the league rebranded its name and competition format as Ascenso MX, the major changes (clubs do not need a FMF certification to be promoted and that the competition no longer used group stages). Ascenso MX was replaced by Liga de Expansión MX on April 17, 2020. Irapuato is a Mexican city and municipality located at the foot of the Arandas Hill (in Spanish: ''Cerro de Arandas''), in the central region of the state of Guanajuato. Estadio Hidalgo
The Estadio Hidalgo is a association football, football stadium located in Pachuca de Soto, Pachuca, Hidalgo (state), Hidalgo, Mexico. It is the home stadium of C.F. Pachuca, Pachuca in Liga MX and C.F. Pachuca (women), Pachuca Femenil in Liga MX Femenil. The stadium was inaugurated in 1993 and has a capacity of 25,922 seats. It is the highest sports center in the state of Hidalgo and its name, like that of the state, is in honor of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla the father of the Independence of Mexico. Nicknamed ''"El Huracán"'' (The Hurricane), due to the great dominance of CF Pachuca in its golden era playing at home, saying "the team at home plays devastating like a hurricane". Pachuca De Soto
Pachuca (; ), formally known as Pachuca de Soto, is the capital and largest city of the east-central Mexico, Mexican States of Mexico, state of Hidalgo (state), Hidalgo, located in the south-central part of the state. Pachuca Municipality, Pachuca de Soto is also the name of the municipality for which the city serves as municipal seat. Pachuca is located about north of Mexico City via Mexican Federal Highway 85. There is no agreed upon consensus regarding the origins of the word ''pachuca''. It has been loosely traced to ''pachoa'' ('strait', 'opening'), ''pachoacan'' ('place of government', 'place of silver and gold') and ''patlachuican'' ('place of factories', 'place of tears').
