1996 Swedish Golf Tour
The 1996 Swedish Golf Tour, titled as the 1996 Telia Infomedia Golf Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 13th season of the Swedish Golf Tour, the main professional golf tour in Sweden since it was formed in 1984, with most tournaments being incorporated into the Challenge Tour between 1989 and 1998. Telia title sponsorship In December 1995, it was announced that the tour had signed a title sponsorship agreement with Telia Company, being renamed as the Telia Infomedia Golf Tour. Adam Mednick
Adam Mednick (born 9 September 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. Early life Mednick was born in Bethesda, Maryland in the United States to an American father and a Swedish mother, and moved to Sweden when he was eight years old. His great-grandparents emigrated from Kiev in the Ukraine, and the authorities in the United States changed their family name from Mednikov to Mednick. Amateur career Mednick had a successful amateur career, representing Gävle Golf Club, situated 180 kilometres north of Stockholm, Sweden, in the same player generation as club mates, European Tour winner to be, Peter Hedblom and 1988 Amateur Championship winner Cristian Härdin. When Härdin became the first Swede to play in The Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in April 1989, Mednick caddied for him. Scott Watson (golfer)
Ben Smart and Olivia Hope, two young New Zealanders, disappeared in the early hours of the morning on New Year's Day, 1January 1998. The two friends had been celebrating on New Year's Eve at Furneaux Lodge in the Marlborough Sounds with other partygoers. The pair accepted an offer from a stranger to stay aboard his yacht in the early hours of the morning, and it was the last time they were seen alive. The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). History From the first tournament in 1904 (for men) and 1911 (for women) until 1983, it was an amateur tournament, from 1910 open only for Swedish citizens, and the winner was the official Swedish champion. Max Anglert
Max Ola Anglert (born 10 February 1971) is a Swedish professional golfer, winner of the EGA Trophy and European Youths' Team Championship in 1992. In 1996 he won the Kentab/RBG Open on the Challenge Tour and joined the European Tour. Amateur career Anglert was a leading amateur golfer and represented his country at boy, youth and senior levels. With the Swedish team, he finished third at the 1989 European Boys' Team Championship, won the 1992 European Youths' Team Championship, and finished fourth at the 1993 European Amateur Team Championship. Per Arne Christopher Hanell (born 30 May 1973) is a Swedish professional golfer. Early life and amateur career Hanell was born in Västervik. He attended Arizona State University in the United States and was part of the winning NCAA Division I championship team in 1996. He won two individual collegiate titles: the 1994 Taylor Made/Big Island Intercollegiate and the 1996 Golf Digest Collegiate.
