1996 Isle Of Man TT
The 1996 Isle of Man TT was the year where Phillip McCallen of Honda achieved 4 wins in a week – a record not beaten until 2010. He won all of the main races with Jim Moodie and Joey Dunlop picking up the smaller bike wins. Dave Molyneux managed to hold off Rob Fisher to win both sidecar races. John McGuinness and David Jefferies, two of the most successful competitors in the event's history, made their debut that year. Jefferies scored a best of tenth place at the Production TT, while McGuinness finished in fifteenth place in the Lightweight TT, his only start of the week. The event was marred by the death of four competitors: Aaron Kennedy, Rob Holden and Mick Lofthouse during practice, and Steve Tannock during the Formula One TT. The Isle of Man TT Mountain Course or ''TT Course'' or ''Snaefell Mountain Course'' or ''Elmo’s Mountain Course'' is a street and public rural road circuit located in the Isle of Man, used for motorcycle racing. Ian Simpson (motorcycle Racer)
Ian Simpson (born 1970 in Edinburgh) is a retired motorcycle road racer from Scotland, nicknamed the "Dalbeattie Destroyer". Career Simpson began racing at the age of 16, and entered the British Championship two years later. He won the TT Superbike class in the 1994 HEAT British Supercup (now known as the British Superbike Championship) on a Duckhams Crighton Norton, the final year Rotary Nortons were raced at this level; as new homoglation rules required that a larger number of road-going bikes were produced than Norton could afford. Other British titles won by Simpson were in Supersport, taking the 600cc Supercup championships in 1991 and 1994, and the 400cc national championship in 1993. Michael Karl Rutter (born 18 April 1972 in Wordsley, Staffordshire) nicknamed "The Blade", is a British motorcycle racer. He races in the National Superstock 1000 Championship aboard a BMW S1000RR. Robert Lorne Holden (17 December 1958 – 31 May 1996) was a motorcycle road racing, road racer from New Zealand. Biography Born in Norland, West Yorkshire, Norland, near Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire in 1958, Holden emigrated from England to New Zealand with his family in 1973. He was the most successful of all Ducati Supermono racers. In 1994 Holden placed second in the Isle of Man TT, then returned to the 1995 Isle of Man TT to win the singles title. Holden also won in Ireland's North West 200 Supermono class in 1995. Holden died the following year in practice at the Isle of Man TT while riding a Ducati 916. Aaron Kennedy is a Canadian sports journalist and politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2024 general election. He defeated Blaine Higgs in the riding of Quispamsis, who had been serving in that riding since 2010 and as Premier of New Brunswick since 2018. Kennedy previously worked for the town of Quispamsis, where in 2011 he began serving as the town's communications manager.
