The 1996 3 Nations Cup was a women's ice hockey tournament held various locations of Ontario and Canton, New York, from October 20–27, 1996. It was the first edition of the 3 Nations Cup. Cammi Granato
Catherine Michelle Granato (born March 25, 1971) is an American former ice hockey player and one of the first women to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November 2010. She currently works as an assistant general manager for the Vancouver Canucks organization. Granato was the captain of the U.S. women's hockey team that won a gold medal in the 1998 Winter Olympics. She is the younger sister of former NHL player Tony Granato and Buffalo Sabres head coach Don Granato, and a graduate of Providence College. Granato played hockey for Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Granato has been a recipient of the Lester Patrick Award (2007), and she has been inducted into the International Hockey Hall of Fame (2008), the US Hockey Hall of Fame (2009) and the Hockey Hall of Fame (2010). Danielle Dube
Danielle Dube (born March 10, 1976) played for the Canadian National women's ice hockey team from 1994 to 1998 and from 2000 to 2002. She was a late cut from the 1998 and 2002 Canadian Olympic teams. On December 11, 2002, Danielle Dube became the third female goaltender to start in goal for a professional men's team. Dube was the goalie for the Long Beach Ice Dogs in a loss against the San Diego Gulls. She stopped 12 of 13 shots for the Ice Dogs. In 2008, she had considered approaching the Vancouver Canucks, with hopes of earning a recommendation to play for the ECHL's Victoria Salmon Kings. On August 26, 2011, she participated in the Longest Ice Hockey Game 4 CF, at Canlan Ice Sports Burnaby 8 Rinks in Burnaby, British Columbia. Amanda Benoit-Wark
Amanda Benoit-Wark (born January 22, 1976) is a Canadian ice hockey player. Benoit-Wark played for the Canada women's national ice hockey team from 1996 to 2004. Benoit is a two-time World Champion playing in both 1999 and 2000 World Championships. Playing career During the 1980s, she played organized hockey in Welland, Ontario and with the Stoney Creek Minor Hockey Association, capturing MVP honours at Stoney Creek in 1988. In 1993, she was selected to play with Team Ontario Red at the 1993 Canadian national women's under-18 championship. Not only would she emerge with the gold medal, but she was recognized as the tournament's Most Valuable Player. With the Beatrice Aeros of the former Central Ontario Women's Hockey League (COWHL), Benoit-Wark appeared at the Esso Women's National Championships on seven occasions. Lori Dupuis
Lori Dupuis (born November 14, 1972) is a Canadian women's ice hockey player. Playing career Dupuis was born and raised just outside Cornwall, Ontario. She is a former member of the Cornwall Wolverines of the OWHA. She started with the Wolverines at the age of 10, and won Provincial "C" and "B" Championships. After playing minor ice hockey in Cornwall, Dupuis attended the University of Toronto, where she played with the Varsity Lady Blues from 1991 to 1997 and was nominated as female athlete of the year in 1996 and 1997. Dupuis was captain of the Lady Blues women's ice hockey team program from 1994 to 1996. During the 1992-93 season, she was the Blues Alternate Captain. In 1994-95, she was second in league scoring. Appleton Arena
Appleton Arena is a 3,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Canton, New York. It is home to the St. Lawrence University Skating Saints ice hockey team. It was named for Judge Charles W. Appleton, class of 1897, the main benefactor of the arena as well as the riding center, which is named for his wife Elsa. Appleton Arena opened in January 1951. The Canton Community assisted with the construction of an adjacent outdoor rink previous to 1951. Appleton Arena was remodeled in the late 1970s and early 1980s to its current configuration. In 1999, the facade of the arena was renovated to allow for improved locker rooms (particularly for the growing women's program) and a larger lobby. Additionally, the playing surface was expanded to 85 feet by 200 feet, and a weight training facility was added. Allison Jaime "A. J." Mleczko Griswold (born June 14, 1975) is an American ice hockey player and analyst. She won a gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Playing career Mleczko attended New Canaan Country School and is a graduate of The Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut. Mleczko played college hockey at Harvard University, where she led the Crimson to a national title in 1999. That same year she became the second winner of the Patty Kazmaier Award, which is awarded annually to the best female college ice hockey player in the United States. Gretchen A. Ulion (born May 4, 1972) is an American ice hockey player. She won a gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics. At Dartmouth College, she was and is still today the Dartmouth Big Green women's ice hockey program's all-time leading scorer with 189 goals and 312 points, served as the captain of the Dartmouth Big Green during the 1993–94 season, and was twice the Ivy League Player of the Year. Petra Maria Paulina Vaarakallio (born 17 June 1975 in Helsinki) is a Finland, Finnish retired ice hockey player and ringette player. She played on the women's ice hockey team for Finland at the 1998 Winter Olympics, and won a bronze medal. Vaarakallio scored the first-ever goal in women's ice hockey at the Olympics. Cornwall Civic Complex
The Cornwall Civic Complex is a business/sports facility located in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. The arena inside is called the Ed Lumley Arena, named for Ed Lumley. It was built in 1976 and originally held 4,000 people, but in 2008, the arena had an extra 1000 seats added to make the seating 5000. The Complex also has an aquatic centre which was opened in September 2005. Hayley Wickenheiser
Hayley Wickenheiser (born August 12, 1978) is a Canadian former ice hockey player, resident physician and assistant general manager for the Toronto Maple Leafs. She was the first woman to play full-time professional men’s hockey in a position other than goalie. Wickenheiser was a member of Canada women's national ice hockey team for 23 years, from 1994 until announcing her retirement on January 13, 2017, and is the team's career points leader with 168 goals and 211 assists in 276 games.
