The 1995 Volvo International was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Connecticut in the United States and was part of the Championship Series of the 1995 ATP Tour. It was the 23rd edition of the tournament and ran from August 14 through August 21, 1995. First-seeded Andre Agassi won the singles title. ATP International Series Gold
ATP International Series Gold (known from 1990 to 1999 as the ATP Championship Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally between 2000 and 2008 that were part of the ATP Tour. The tournaments were positioned below the ATP Masters Series, and above the ATP International Series in terms of prize money and ranking points available. International Series Gold tournaments offered players cash prizes (purses from $755,000 to $1,426,250 as of 2008) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. Hard Court
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a type of surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as Asphalt concrete, asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center
The Cullman–Heyman Tennis Center is an 8-court indoor intercollegiate tennis facility and outdoor stadium located on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The Cullman–Heyman Tennis Center is part of the Yale University tennis complex which consists of 17 outdoor and 8 indoor DecoTurf hardcourts. Across Yale Avenue from the Yale Tennis Complex is the Connecticut Tennis Center Stadium, which hosted men's and women's professional tennis tournaments, hosted its last WTA tournament in 2018. In 2019 approval was given to convert the stadium into a concert venue. The outdoor stadium was built in 1991 for the Volvo Tennis Championships, and by 2009 it had seats for 15,000 spectators. Rick Leach
Rick Leach (born December 28, 1964) is a former professional tennis player and coach from the United States. A doubles specialist, he won five Grand Slam doubles titles (three at the Australian Open, one at Wimbledon, and one at the US Open), and four mixed doubles titles (two at the Australian Open, one at Wimbledon, and one at the US Open). He reached the world No. 1 doubles ranking in 1990. Leach was a member of the US team which won the Davis Cup in 1990. Partnering Jim Pugh, he won the doubles rubbers in all four of the rounds which the US played in that year, and clinched the team's victory in the final with a win over Pat Cash and John Fitzgerald of Australia. Scott Melville
Scott Melville (born August 4, 1966) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Melville enjoyed most of his tennis success while playing doubles because of injuries. During his career, he won nine doubles titles and finished runner-up an additional seven times. Partnering Rick Leach in doubles, Melville finished runner-up at the 1995 Wimbledon Championships. He achieved a career-high doubles ranking of World No. 17 in 1996. He is now a coach and has coached many college level tennis players. Richard Krajicek
Richard Peter Stanislav Krajicek (; born 6 December 1971) is a Dutch former professional tennis player and tournament director. Krajicek won 17 singles titles during his career, including the 1996 Wimbledon Championships, becoming the first (and only) Dutchman to win a major singles title. He was ranked world No. 4 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in March 1999. Nicolás Pereira (born September 29, 1970) is a commentator for the Tennis Channel and former professional tennis player, who became the ITF Junior World Champion in 1988 after winning the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
