The 1995 Dutch Open was an ATP men's tennis tournament held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, after being transferred from Hilversum, and played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 38th edition of the tournament that was part of the World Series of the 1995 ATP Tour and was held from 24 July until 30 July 1995. Unseeded qualifier Marcelo Ríos won his second title of the year, and the second as well of his career. The Dutch Open Tennis Amersfoort (or Dutch Open) originally known as the Netherlands International Championships and Netherland Championships was a tennis tournament played on outdoor clay court and held in three different locations in The Netherlands between 1898 and 2008. From 1957 to 1973 the tournament consisted of both men's and women's events (singles, doubles, mixed doubles) but from 1975 onward only men's singles and doubles events were held. Neil Broad
Neil Broad (born 20 November 1966) is a former professional tennis player who represented Great Britain for most of his playing career. He is a former UK number 1 who won seven ATP tour doubles titles in his career, and won the silver medal in doubles at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Playing career overview The right-hander played primarily doubles in his career. He achieved his highest doubles ranking of No. 9 on 9 April 1990. Broad achieved his best Grand Slam doubles result at the 1990 Australian Open, reaching the semifinals while partnering Gary Muller of South Africa. Broad played on the Great Britain Davis Cup team from 1992 to 2000, achieving a doubles record of 4–7. He won a silver medal for Great Britain at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, partnering Tim Henman. Wayne Arthurs (tennis)
Wayne Arthurs (born 18 March 1971) is a retired Australian professional tennis player. Career His serve was his strongest weapon by far, and had been referred to as the "best in the world" by several of his fellow players, including Jim Courier, Andre Agassi, Thomas Johansson, and Ivo Karlović. He consistently had one of the highest ace counts on the ATP Tour and favours a serve-and-volley style of play. Arthurs has won 12 ATP doubles titles in his career. In February 2005 he achieved a belated breakthrough in singles by winning the ATP event in Scottsdale, United States, the Tennis Channel Open, in straight sets over Croat Mario Ančić. Johannes Martinus ("Jan") Siemerink (born 14 April 1970) is a retired tennis player from the Netherlands. The former Dutch Davis Cup captain reached a career-high ATP ranking of 14. Career Tennis As a junior player, Siemerink was the Dutch 18-under champion in 1988. He also won the doubles title at the 1988 Orange Bowl junior championship in Florida. Siemerink turned professional in 1989. Over the course of his career, he won four top-level singles titles (at Singapore in 1991, Nottingham in 1996, and at Rotterdam and Toulouse in 1998). Clay Court
A clay court is one of the types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Clay courts are made of crushed stone, brick, shale, or other unbound mineral aggregate depending on the tournament. The French Open uses clay courts, the only Grand Slam tournament to do so. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia-Pacific or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness.
