1994–95 NAHL Season
The 1994–95 NAHL season was the 11th season of the North American Hockey League. The Detroit Compuware Ambassadors won the regular season championship and the Robertson Cup. Member changes * The Niagara Scenic withdrew from the league, rebranded as the Buffalo Lightning, and joined the Empire Junior Hockey League. * The Kalamazoo Jr. Wings relocated and became the Danville Wings. * The Michigan Nationals rebranded as the Dearborn Heights Nationals. North American Hockey League
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is one of the top junior hockey leagues in the United States and is in its 50th season of operation in 2024–25. It is the only Tier II junior league sanctioned by USA Hockey, and acts as an alternative for those who would not or did not make the roster of a team in the Major Junior Canadian Hockey League (CHL) nor Tier I United States Hockey League (USHL). The NAHL is one of the oldest junior hockey leagues in the United States and is headquartered in Addison, Texas. The teams span the United States from Maine in the East to Alaska in the Northwest and to Texas in the South. The teams play a 59-game regular season, usually starting on the 2nd weekend in September and ending near mid-April (2020–21 season is exception, the season started in late 2020-early 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Dearborn Heights Nationals
The Dearborn Heights Nationals were a Tier II junior ice hockey team in the North American Hockey League. The team played its home games at the Canfield Ice Arena in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. History In 1990 the NAHL added the Dearborn Magic as an expansion franchise in Dearborn, Michigan. After a year, the team relocated to Dearborn Heights, Michigan and became the Michigan Nationals. Three years on, the franchise rebranded as the Dearborn Heights Nationals. The Lakeland Jets were a Junior A ice hockey team playing in the North American Hockey League. The team was based in Lakeland, Michigan. Saginaw Gears (NAHL)
The Saginaw Gears were a junior ice hockey team that played in the North American Hockey League. The team played out of the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena in Saginaw, Michigan. History In 1991, the NAHL approved adding an expansion team from Saginaw. The club took the same name as the former IHL team though they use a different color scheme and logo. The team was largely unsuccessful for their first three years, however, the club was finally able to finish with a winning record in 1995 under Dave Westner, who had played for the original Gears. Danville Wings
The Danville Wings were a Tier I ice hockey team that played the North American Hockey League from 1994 until 2003 when they moved to the United States Hockey League for the 2003–04 season. After that season, the team was relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana and renamed the Indiana Ice. The Wings played their home games at the David S. Palmer Arena in Danville, Illinois.
