Ekstraklasa
Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the Ekstraklasa qualifies for the Polish SuperCup. The league is now operated by the Ekstraklasa Spółka Akcyjna. The Ekstraklasa (former I liga) was officially formed as Liga Polska on 4–5 December 1926 in Warsaw, since 1 March 1927 as Liga Piłki Nożnej (), but the Polish Football Association (Polish: Polski Związek Piłki Nożnej, PZPN) had been in existence since 20 December 1919, a year after the independence of Poland in 1918. Piotr Burlikowski
Piotr Burlikowski (born 14 September 1970) is a Polish former footballer who played as a forward. He played in the top divisions of Poland and Finland, as well as playing abroad in Germany, France and the United States. Career Early years Born in Bydgoszcz, Burlikowski started playing football for his local club Chemik Bydgoszcz, breaking into the first team in 1987. He spent three seasons with Chemik before making a move to join city rivals Polonia Bydgoszcz. After only a six-month spell with Polonia he returned to Chemik, who at this time were playing in the II liga, with Burlikowski being a part of the team that made its highest ever finish in the Polish leagues, 5th in the II liga. During his second spell with Chemik, Burlikowski made a total of 39 appearances and scored 11 goals in the league. Jerzy "Gumiś" Podbrożny (born December 17, 1966 in Przemyśl) is a former Polish football striker, one of the top scorers in Polish football history and current manager of Orzeł Campinos. Biography Podbrożny led the Polish league in scoring: in 1992 with 20 goals and in 1993 with 25 goals, both times for Lech Poznań. After winning the championship both those years, he transferred to Legia Warsaw, and promptly won the next two titles. In 1996, Podbrożny moved to Spain, first with CP Mérida and then with CD Toledo.
