1994 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1994 Swedish speedway season was the 1994 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1994 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held in Västervik on 3 September. Tony Rickardsson won the Swedish Championship for the second time. U21 Championship Daniel Andersson won the U21 championship. Team Team Championship Örnarna won the Elitserien and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the third successive year. The Örnarna team included Kelvin Tatum, Peter Karlsson, Christer Rohlén, Mikael Karlsson and Niklas Klingberg. Buddys changed their name to Team Viking. Rospiggarna won the first division, while Team Viking and Njudungarna won the second division A and B respectively. Elit Vetlanda Speedway
Vetlanda Speedway were a motorcycle speedway team based in Vetlanda, Sweden. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. In 2003 when the club was promoted to the top division of Swedish speedway league, the Elitserien, they changed the name of club to VMS Elit. The current name Vetlanda Speedway was adopted in 2018. Vikingarna () are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Örebro Motorstadion, 9 km west of Örebro, near Örebro Airport in Sweden. Season summary History 1950 to 1954 The beginning of competitive league speedway in Örebro can be traced back to the 1950 Swedish speedway season. A club called Vikingarna finished last out of four teams in the second division. However, the following season in 1951, was much improved to the degree that the team actually won the six team division. The team competed in the highest tier for the first time during the 1952 Swedish speedway season (called division 1 at the time) but struggled in the division and were eventually relegated. A young Göte Nordin rode for the club from 1952 to 1954 and he helped them win division 2 again in 1953. Rospiggarna is a motorcycle speedway team based in Hallstavik, Sweden. The club was founded in 1930 and were named ''Orion'', although it did not compete in the Swedish speedway leagues until 1966. The club joined the Swedish Division Three in 1966 and the team name was changed to ''Stjärnorna'' (English: The Stars). In 1978 the name was changed again to Rospiggarna which is the demonym for people from Roslagen, where Hallstavik is situated. Christer Rohlén
Christer Karlsson Rohlén (born 7 April 1967) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. Career Rohlén started his career riding for Indianerna in 1983. He would spend nine seasons with the club and reached the final of the 1988 Junior World Championship. He won his first of six Swedish Speedway Team Championships with Indianerna in 1990. In 1992, he joined Örnarna from Indianerna and would go on to win four more Elitserien titles in 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1996. Kelvin Tatum
Kelvin Martin Tatum MBE (born 8 February 1964, in Epsom, Surrey) is a former British international motorcycle speedway and grasstrack rider. Career Tatum attended Brighton College from 1977 to 1980. He started riding speedway bikes at Hackney's training school at Hackney Wick Stadium in the winter of 1982-83. He was given his first team place at Hackney's London rivals, Wimbledon Dons, riding in the top flight British League in 1983. He finished the season with an average of over six points per meeting. In 1985 he signed for Coventry Bees, staying there for the next six seasons. Stints then followed at Berwick Bandits, Bradford Dukes, Arena Essex Hammers, Poole Pirates, Peterborough Panthers and the ill-fated London Lions, with brother Neville Tatum among his teammates. Elitserien (literally, "The Elite Series") ( sv, Elitserien i speedway) is the highest league in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises the top 7 Swedish speedway teams. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway.
