1994 Paris–Dakar Rally
The 1994 Paris–Dakar–Paris Rally was the 16th running of the Dakar Rally event. The route was from Paris to Dakar (via Bordeaux and Agadir) and back to Paris (via Ouarzazate and Motril). it was the first Dakar Rally organized by Amaury Sport Organisation. Fenouil (Jean-Claude Morellet) designed the route. Pierre Lartigue won the rally while Edi Orioli won his third motorcycle title. Karel Loprais won the truck title in a Tatra 815. Dakar Rally
The Dakar Rally () or simply "The Dakar" (), formerly known as the Paris–Dakar Rally (), is an annual rally raid organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO). It is an off-road endurance event traversing terrain much tougher than conventional rallying, and the vehicles used are typically true off-road vehicles and motorcycles, rather than modified on-road vehicles. Most of the competitive special sections are off-road, crossing dunes, mud, camel grass, rocks, and erg. Stages vary from short distances up to per day. The rough terrain, driver fatigue, and lack of skill usually results in accidents and serious injuries. The event began in 1978 as a rally from Paris, France, to Dakar, Senegal. Between 1992 and 2007 some editions did not start in Paris or did not arrive in Dakar, but the rally kept its name. Motril
Motril () is a town and municipality of Spain belonging to the province of Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. The main settlement is located a few kilometers inland, separated from the Port of Motril by the Guadalfeo delta. Motril is the second most populated municipality in the province, with 60,368 inhabitants as of 2016. The Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO and also A.S.O.) is a private company, founded in 1992, that is part of the privately-owned French media group Éditions Philippe Amaury (EPA). Karel Loprais (4 March 1949 – 30 December 2021) was a Czech rally raid driver and six-time winner of the Dakar Rally in the truck category.
