MTN 8
The MTN 8 is a South African soccer single-elimination tournament, cup competition launched in 1972 for teams who finished in the top 8 positions of the league table of the country's preceding season of the top-flight league (currently the South African Premiership, Premiership). The winners receive South African Rand, R10 million and the competition's trophy, which is one of the three domestic trophies attainable by its competitors each soccer season, with the other two being the top-flight league title and the country's premier knock-out competition, the Nedbank Cup. The competition bears the name of its sponsor (commercial), title sponsor; it was known as the BP Top 8 from its inception until 2002, then as the South African Airways, SAA Supa 8 until 2007. Daniel Mudau (born 4 September 1968) is a South African former footballer who played at both professional and international levels as a striker. Early life Daniel Mbulaheni Mudau was born on 4 September 1968 in Mamelodi. Career Mudau played club football for Ratanang Maholosiane and Mamelodi Sundowns; he also earned sixteen caps for the South African national side between 1993 and 2000, scoring 3 goals. He is the all-time top goal scorer for the Mamelodi Sundowns. Mudau scored one of the goals in Sundowns' losing effort in the 1994 BP Top 8 final. Wedson Nyirenda (born 23 November 1966) is a Zambian football manager and former player. Playing career Nyirenda played as a forward for Nchanga Rangers and Power Dynamos in the MTN/FAZ Super Division. In 1993, he played for Kaizer Chiefs. Nyirenda scored two goals in Chiefs' win in the 1994 BP Top 8 final. Managerial career Nyirenda coached at Zesco United and Zanaco.
