''PBA on Vintage Sports'' is a Television in the Philippines, Philippine television sports presentation show broadcast by Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation, City2, People's Television Network, MBS/PTV and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, IBC. It aired from March 7, 1982 to December 12, 1999. The consist of branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association games produced by Vintage Television, Vintage Sports. History In 1982, the PBA awarded the broadcast rights of its games to Vintage Television, Vintage Enterprises, Inc., a company owned by Carlos "Bobong" Velez and signed a P5.4 million deal with the league. Games were aired on Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation, City2 Television, with the second game of a doubleheader aired live and the first game followed afterwards on a delayed basis. PBA Commissioner's Cup
The PBA Commissioner's Cup is one of three active conferences in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). It is also one of two conferences, the other being the PBA Governors' Cup, Governors' Cup which allows teams to hire a single foreign player, known as an "import". The ''Commissioner's Cup'' also refers to the trophy awarded to the champion team. The first run of the Commissioner's Cup lasted from 1993 PBA season, 1993 to 2002 PBA season, 2002. In 2003, it was replaced by the returning 2003 PBA Invitational Championship, Invitational Championship, and from 2004 PBA Fiesta Conference, 2004 to 2009–10 PBA season, 2010, the PBA Fiesta Conference, Fiesta Conference was held as the lone import-laden conference. Benjie Paras
Venancio Johnson Paras Jr. (born October 2, 1968), better known as Benjie Paras, is a Filipino actor, comedian, and retired professional basketball player who played for the Shell Turbo Chargers and San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is the only PBA player to win both Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors, in a single season. As its star center, Paras led the Shell Turbo Chargers to championship titles. Early career High school Paras played with the San Beda Red Cubs together with Ronnie Magsanoc and Eric Altamirano. Collegiate Paras played for the UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP. Manolo "Chino" Lacsamana Trinidad (July 23, 1967 – July 13, 2024) was a Filipino sports journalist and executive who formerly served as a play-by-play commentator in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) coverage by Vintage Television. Career Sportscasting Trinidad started in '' Balitang Bayan Numero Unos Sports Ngayon segment from 1991 to 1998 in DZRH. He started a sideline reporter from 1993 to 1995, on Vintage Television's PBA coverage. He later worked as a play-by-play commentator not only on basketball games, but also on boxing games, like '' Blow-by-Blow''. Pasay, officially the City of Pasay (; ), is a Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, highly urbanized city in the Metro Manila, National Capital Region of the Philippines. Cuneta Astrodome
Cuneta Astrodome, also known as Pasay Astrodome or simply the Astrodome, is an indoor arena located in Pasay, Philippines. The arena has hosted Philippine Basketball Association games from 1993 to 1999 and again from 2001 onwards, and also currently serves as the home arena of the Pasay Voyagers of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. Elmer Yanga
Elmer Yanga (August 13, 1945 – May 1, 2024) is a Filipino sports executive serving for Pop Cola Panthers from its foundation in 1990 until its disbandment in 2001. Career An alumnus of University of the East, Yanga started as the manager of the RFM–Swift coached by Yeng Guiao in the PABL. In Pop Cola PBA franchise, he helped the team to win 4 championships. He also won 3 Danny Floro PBA Executive of the Year award from 1993 to 1995 for turning the franchise into title contender. He is also notable for letting Yeng Guiao go to Pepsi/Mobiline and hiring Derrick Pumaren in 1994 Governors' Cup. The Pop Cola Panthers were a professional basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association from 1990-2001. The franchise was owned by RFM Corporation. In 2001, when RFM Corporation sold its entire stake in Cosmos Bottling Corporation to Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI), the PBA franchise was included in the transaction.
