1992–93 SAARC Quadrangular
The 1992–93 SAARC Quadrangular was the inaugural SAARC Quadrangular cricket tournament. It started in Dhaka, Bangladesh in December 1992 amidst great enthusiasm and excitement. Background 4 teams, the 'A' teams from neighbouring India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and the full national team of the host country participated in the event. Due to the volatile political situation arising in the sub-continent, the tournament had to be abandoned at the League stage. Thus, there was no winners of the tournament. Scores in brief India came to the tournament with the strongest team, and they were the favourites to lift the trophy. The didn't get the chance to do that, but some of the players were rewarded for their brilliant performances. Both Vinod Kambli and off-spinner Rajesh Chauhan made their test debut against England at Eden Garden, Calcutta, in Jan 1993. The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is the regional intergovernmental organization and geopolitics, geopolitical union of states in South Asia. Rajesh Chauhan
Rajesh Chauhan (; born 19 December 1966) is a former Indian cricketer who played in 21 Tests and 35 One Day Internationals from 1993 to 1998. He was part of the Indian spin trio of Kumble-Raju-Chauhan, in the 1990s. Although his own contributions were only of limited value, India lost none of the 21 Tests in which he played. The feat for which he is perhaps remembered most is his last-over six off Saqlain Mushtaq at Karachi in 1997, which sealed a four-wicket win for India against Pakistan. 1997 ICC Trophy
The Carlsberg 1997 ICC Trophy was a cricket tournament played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between 24 March and 13 April 1997. It was the Cricket World Cup qualification tournament for the 1999 Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh were the winners of the tournament, defeating Kenya in the final, while Scotland won the third place play-off. These three teams took the three available spots in the World Cup, Bangladesh and Scotland both qualifying for this tournament for the first time. Pravin Kalyan Amre (; born 14 August 1968) is an Indian cricketer who represented the Indian cricket team between 1991 and 1999. He played 11 Test matches and 37 One Day Internationals (ODIs). Graeme Fredrick Labrooy (; born 7 June 1964) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played in nine Test matches and 44 One Day International from 1986 to 1992. He was the chairman of selectors for the national team and currently serves as an international match referee. His younger brother Wendell Labrooy is also a first-class cricketer and match referee. Maninder Singh (cricketer)
Maninder Singh (born 13 June 1965) is a former Indian cricket player and a cricket commentator. He represented India in 35 Test matches and 59 One Day Internationals. A slow left-arm orthodox spin, Maninder was considered the heir apparent to Bishan Singh Bedi, who then held the record as India's leading spinner in terms of wickets. Maninder retired prematurely for personal reasons. Singh holds the Test record for the most Tests in a complete career without aggregating 100 runs.
