1992 Manila Local Elections
Local elections was held in the City of Manila on May 11, 1992, within the Philippine general elections after the passing of 1987 constitution and its transition period from 1988 to 1992. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the six congressmen, and the councilors, six in each of the city's six legislative districts. Mel Lopez, the incumbent mayor from 1986 to 1987, got his term of own right in 1988. Lopez will face NBI director and former Western Police District chief Alfredo Lim, former Mayor Ramon Bagatsing, his 1988 running mate Danny Lacuna, who resigned as vice mayor before the election. Danilo Lacuna
Danilo "Danny" Bautista Lacuna Sr. (March 23, 1938 – August 13, 2023) was a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the 17th Vice Mayor of Manila. He was the father of incumbent Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and was a mentor of Mayor-elect Isko Moreno. Political career Danny Lacuna was former city vice mayor from 1970 to 1971, from 1988 to 1992, and from 1998 to 2007. He also served as city councilor (municipal board member) from the 3rd district from 1967 to 1975 and as a special assistant to the then Manila Municipal Board beginning in 1963. Lacuna was the founder of the local party Asenso Manileño. He also unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Manila in 1992 and in 2007 and for representative of the 6th district of Manila in 2010. Local elections was held in the City of Manila on January 18, 1988, within the Philippine local elections after the passing of 1987 constitution. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the six congressmen, and the councilors, six in each of the city's six legislative districts. 1992 Philippine General Election
Presidential and vice presidential elections, legislative elections and local elections were held in the Philippines on May 11, 1992. An estimated 80,000 candidates ran for 17,000 posts from the presidency down to municipal councillors in the first general election under the 1987 Constitution. Even though she was permitted by the Constitution to run for a second term, President Corazon Aquino did not stand for re-election. Retired general Fidel Ramos of Lakas-NUCD won a six-year term as president of the Philippines by a small margin, narrowly defeating populist candidate Miriam Defensor Santiago of the People's Reform Party. Jaime Lim de la Rosa (September 18, 1921 – December 2, 1992), also known for his screen name Jaime de la Rosa, was a Filipino actor and politician active in showbiz from the 1940s to 1960. Ramon Bagatsing
Ramon Delaraga Bagatsing Sr. (August 19, 1916 – February 14, 2006) was a Filipino politician. He was the only Filipino of Indian ancestry and person with disability (an amputee) who served as 17th Mayor of Manila from 1971 to 1986. Bagatsing held the unique distinction of being the only person to survive both the Bataan Death March and the Plaza Miranda bombing in 1971.
