The BP Top 8 1992 was the 21st edition of the competition, then known as the BP Top 8 for sponsorship reasons, featuring the top 8-placed teams at the conclusion of the National Soccer League (NSL) season. It was won for the tenth time by Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs, managed by Jeff Butler, won the treble that season after also winning the 1992 Bob Save Superbowl and 1992 NSL. MTN 8
The MTN 8 is a South African soccer single-elimination tournament, cup competition launched in 1972 for teams who finished in the top 8 positions of the league table of the country's preceding season of the top-flight league (currently the South African Premiership, Premiership). The winners receive South African Rand, R10 million and the competition's trophy, which is one of the three domestic trophies attainable by its competitors each soccer season, with the other two being the top-flight league title and the country's premier knock-out competition, the Nedbank Cup. The competition bears the name of its sponsor (commercial), title sponsor; it was known as the BP Top 8 from its inception until 2002, then as the South African Airways, SAA Supa 8 until 2007. Jeff Butler (football Manager)
Jeff Butler (8 January 1934 – 22 April 2017) was an English football manager who coached in Africa during the 1980s and 1990s, winning four Zambian and four South African league titles. Early life Jeff Butler was born on 8 January 1934. He married Valerie . During his coaching career he claimed to have had a long professional playing career in the English Football League, but this was later proved to be false. Coaching career He coached the Nkana Red Devils to their first four Zambia Super League titles in 1982, 1983, 1985 and 1986. He also coached the Zambia national team in 1984. He then coached Egyptian club Al Ahly. Butler went on to coach South African club Kaizer Chiefs on four separate occasions between 1988 and 1996. Chairman Kaizer Motaung later recalled that Butler was in Cyprus at the time he recruited him.
