Patrick Division
The National Hockey League's Patrick Division was formed in 1974 as part of the Clarence Campbell Conference. The division moved to the Prince of Wales Conference in 1981. The division existed for 19 seasons until 1993. It was named in honor of Lester Patrick, player and longtime coach of the New York Rangers, who was a developer of ice hockey. It is the forerunner of the original Atlantic Division, which later became the Metropolitan Division in 2013. The Edmonton Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton. 1991–92 New Jersey Devils Season
The 1991–92 New Jersey Devils season was the 18th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 10th season since the franchise relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 NHL season. For the third consecutive season, the Devils qualified for the playoffs, this time losing in the division semi-finals to the New York Rangers. Regular season Goaltender Martin Brodeur made his debut with the Devils. Though he would only play four games during this season, he who would go on to become the franchise goaltender of the Devils. New Jersey Devils
The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. The Devils compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. The club was founded as the Kansas City Scouts in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974. The 1991–92 Chicago Blackhawks season saw the Blackhawks finish second in the Norris Division with a record of 36 wins, 29 losses, and 15 ties for 87 points. They defeated the St. Louis Blues in six games in the Division Semi-finals and swept the first-place Detroit Red Wings in the Division Finals. The 1991–92 New York Rangers season was the franchise's 66th season. The season saw the Rangers finish in first place in the Patrick Division with a record of 50 wins, 25 losses, and 5 ties for 105 points. This was the highest points total in the league that season, netting the Rangers the Presidents' Trophy. This season marked the first time since the 1941–42 NHL season that the Rangers were the top team in the NHL.
