1991 Montreal Expos Season
The 1991 Montreal Expos season was the 23rd season in franchise history. After several winning seasons, the Expos faltered in 1991, winning only 20 of its first 49 games. Manager Buck Rodgers was replaced as manager by Tom Runnells. The team ultimately finished 71–90. The highlight of the season was Dennis Martinez pitching a perfect game at Dodger Stadium on July 28, 1991. National League East
The National League East is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. Along with the American League Central, it is one of two divisions to have every member win at least one World Series title. After having internal, informal divisions for scheduling purposes during the pre-expansion era, the division was formally created when the National League (baseball), National League (NL) (along with the American League) added two expansion teams and divided into two divisions, East and West effective for the 1969 season. The National League's geographical alignment was rather peculiar as its partitioning was really more north and south instead of east and west. Rodger Brulotte
Rodger Brulotte (Born January 4, 1947 in Montreal) is a Major League Baseball broadcaster. His career with the Montreal Expos organization started in 1969, working in sales and marketing. He contributed to the creation of the Youppi mascot. In 1984, he was hired by CKAC to serve as Color commentator alongside Jacques Doucet. In 1990, he moved to RDS where he called Expos games with his colleague Denis Casavant until the team's demise in 2004. He is famous for the line "Bonsoir, elle est partie!" (Good night, it is gone) which he said when the Expos hit a home run. Brulotte and Casavant continued to call baseball games on RDS, though coverage is now limited. He now calls Toronto Blue Jays games on TVA Sports alongside Doucet. He writes an article entitled “Tout partout” in Le Journal de Montréal. Iván Calderón (baseball)
Iván Calderón Pérez (March 19, 1962 – December 27, 2003) was a Puerto Rican professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for four teams from 1984 to 1993, and was named an All-Star in 1991. Listed at and , he batted and threw right-handed. Nicknamed "Ivan the Terrible", Calderón was killed in a shooting in Puerto Rico in December 2003. Professional career Calderón was signed by the Seattle Mariners as an undrafted free agent on July 30, 1979. Scott David Service (born February 26, 1967) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played for several Major League Baseball teams, between 1988 and 2004. He also pitched one season in Japan, for the Chunichi Dragons in 1991. Jacques Doucet (born March 8, 1940) is a retired Canadian radio announcer of baseball play-by-play in the French language. He broadcast Montreal Expos games for every year of the team's existence, from 1969 to 2004.
