1991 CONCACAF Gold Cup
The 1991 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the first edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), and the eleventh overall CONCACAF tournament. The last time the CONCACAF Championship was held was 1971, from that point on the first-place finishers of World Cup qualifying were considered continental champions. The tournament was hosted by the United States and played in the Greater Los Angeles area of California at two venues: the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Rose Bowl. The eight teams were broken up into two groups of four; the top two teams of each group would advance to the semifinals. The Gold Cup was won by the United States, who eliminated Mexico in the semi-finals match, and went on to beat Honduras on penalties after tying them in the final 0–0. Benjamín Galindo
Benjamín Galindo Marentes (born 11 December 1960), nicknamed ''El Maestro'' (The Master), is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He participated with the national team in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Playing career International Galindo made 65 appearances and scored 28 goals for the Mexico national football team from 1983 to 1997. Coaching career Galindo was the former coach (''director tecnico'') of the powerhouse Mexican association football club, CD Guadalajara, until he was replaced in the 2005 season. José Eduardo Bennett (born 11 September 1968) is a Honduran former footballer. He is currently manager of UPNFM. Club career Born in La Ceiba, Bennett played in the youth teams of local side Victoria and moved to Tegucigalpa aged 14. There he played college football and later joined Curacao. His debut in Liga Nacional was on 29 September 1988 at the age of 19 wearing Curacao's jersey against Motagua, and he scored to tie 1-1. Dale Mitchell (soccer)
Dale William Mitchell (born April 21, 1958) is a Canadian former professional soccer striker who played for several North American teams in the 1980s and 1990s. He made 55 appearances for the Canada national team and scored a then national record 19 goals. He coached the Canada national team from May 2007 until March 27, 2009. In 2012 as part of the Canadian Soccer Association's centennial celebration, he was named to the all-time Canada XI men's team. He was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2002. The Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol (Central American Football Union), more commonly known by the acronym UNCAF, represents the national football teams of Central America: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. 1991 Caribbean Cup
The 1991 Caribbean Cup (known as the Shell Caribbean Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the third edition of the Caribbean Cup, the football championship of the Caribbean, one of the CONCACAF zones. The final round of the competition was held from the 24 May to 2 June and saw six teams qualifying through to the final round where they joined defending champions Trinidad and Tobago and hosts Jamaica. The eight teams (seven after Cuba withdrew from the competition) were separated into two groups of four with the top two teams from each group qualifying through to the knockout stage where the semi-finals winners qualifying through to the Gold Cup which was held four weeks after the Caribbean tournament. In the final, Jamaica defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 with goals from Paul Davis and Winston Anglin securing Jamaica's first title as they qualified to the 1991 Gold Cup with Trinidad and Tobago.
