The 1990–91 Duleep Trophy was the 30th season of the Duleep Trophy, a first-class cricket tournament contested by five zonal teams of India: Central Zone, East Zone, North Zone, South Zone and West Zone. North Zone won the final against West Zone on first innings lead. However, the umpires called the match off when Rashid Patel attacked both Raman Lamba and Ajay Jadeja with a stump. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. Rashid Patel
Rashid Ghulam Mohammed Patel (born 1 June 1964) was a left arm fast bowler who represented India. He played for Baroda between 1986–87 and 1996–97 in domestic cricket. Rashid Patel had a rather unsuccessful career for India. His only Test was at Bombay against New Zealand in 1988–89. Apart from beating the openers' bat a few times early on he made no impression. He scored a pair against Richard Hadlee while batting. In his only one-day match against the same team, he bowled 10 overs for 58 runs without taking a wicket. He is best remembered for an on-field spat when West Zone played North in the final of the 1990–91 Duleep Trophy at Jamshedpur. Duleep Trophy Seasons
Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji (13 June 1905 – 5 December 1959) was a cricketer who played for England. Playing in the era before the Indian cricket team, he is considered one of India's first great batsmen, alongside his uncle Ranjitsinhji, who also represented England. Born in present-day Gujarat, he was educated at the Rajkumar College, Rajkot, before moving to England as a boy, where he attended Cheltenham College, and Cambridge University. The Duleep Trophy, long one of the premier competitions in Indian first class cricket, is named after him. Cricket career Descended from the Jam Sahibs of Nawanagar State, Duleepsinhji was born on the Kathiawar peninsula in present-day Gujarat. Keenan Stadium
Keenan Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium and an International Cricket Stadium in Jamshedpur, India. It is currently used mostly for cricket and football matches. It is also known as a venue for archery. The stadium is named after John Lawrence Keenan a former general manager of the Tata Steel. The stadium is situated in Northern Town area of Bistupur and is owned by Tata Steel. It has a capacity of 19,000 people. Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj (Pronunciation: əpiːl deːʋ born 6 January 1959) is an Indian former cricketer. He was a fast-medium bowler and a hard-hitting middle-order batsman, and was named by ''Wisden'' as the Indian Cricketer of the Century in 2002. Dev captained the Indian cricket team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup, and in the process became the first Indian captain to win the Cricket World Cup, and is still the youngest captain (at the age of 24) to win the World Cup for any team. Ravi Shastri
Ravishankar Jayadritha Shastri (born 27 May 1962) is the former head coach of the India national cricket team, a cricket commentator and former captain of Indian Cricket Team. As a player, he played for the India national cricket team between 1981 and 1992 in both Test matches and One Day Internationals. Although he started his career as a left arm spin bowler, he later transformed into a batting all-rounder. As a cricketer, Shastri was essentially defensive with his trademark "chapati shot" (a flick off the pads), but he could raise his strike rate when required. Due to his above-average height (he stood 6' 3" tall) and an upright stance, he had a limited number of shots against fast bowling, but was able to put the lofted shot to good use against spin bowling. Ajaysinhji Jadeja ( born 1 February 1971), known as Ajay Jadeja, is an Indian former professional cricketer, who was a regular member of the Indian cricket team between 1992 and 2000. Raman Lamba
Raman Lamba (; 2 January 1960 – 23 February 1998) was an Indian cricketer. Raman had played in four Tests and 32 One Day Internationals, mainly as a batsman. He was a popular player in Bangladesh's Dhaka Premier League and has also represented Ireland in unofficial One Day International matches. Lamba died after slipping into a coma, as a result of an internal haemorrhage, three days after being hit on the temporal bone by a cricket ball while fielding in Bangladesh's league cricket. West Zone Cricket Team
The West Zone cricket team is a first-class cricket team that represents western India in the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. It is a composite team of players from five first-class Indian teams from western India competing in the Ranji Trophy: Baroda, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Mumbai and Saurashtra. West Zone has the best track record of all the zones in the Duleep Trophy, as they have won the Trophy 17 times, similar to North Zone. This included four consecutive titles from 1961-62 through to the 1964-65 season, although the third of these were shared with South Zone. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs.
