The 1990 OTB International Open was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts that was part of the World Series of the 1990 ATP Tour and of the Tier IV of the 1990 WTA Tour. It was the fourth edition of the tournament and was played at Schenectady, New York in the United States from August 20 through August 27, 1990. Ramesh Krishnan and Anke Huber won the singles titles. The 1990 WTA Tour (officially titled 1990 Kraft General Foods World Tour after its sponsor) was the elite professional tennis circuit organized by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for the 1990 tennis season. Wiltrud Probst (born 29 May 1969, in Nuremberg) is a retired tennis player from Germany. She was ranked World No. 31 on 4 February 1991. Probst won in singles two individual titles on the WTA Tour . In 1990 she won the tournament in the New Zealand capital Wellington by a final victory over Leila Meskhi . In 1992 she won the Waregem against her compatriot Meike Babel in the final. Her most successful Grand Slam tournament she played in 1990, when she reached the knockout stages at the French Open , in which she defeated the No. 10 in the world rankings , the Spanish Conchita Martínez. Nana Smith (born Nana Miyagi; 10 April 1971) is an American-born tennis player who played for Japan. Career Miyagi, a former top-15 player in doubles, played at all the Grand Slam tournaments in both singles and doubles – the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. She scored her first top-10 win in singles in 1994, over then-world No. 8, Lindsay Davenport, and also scored wins over many top-20 ranked players, including Martina Hingis. Sven Salumaa (born on October 21, 1966) is a former professional tour tennis player who mostly played tour tennis in doubles. Tour career Salumaa was born in Huntington, New York to Eduard and Tamara Salumaa who were immigrants from Estonia. Brian Garrow (born April 8, 1968) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Garrow competed in doubles events from 1988 through 1992, winning two titles and reaching a top ranking of World No. 42 in 1991. Garrow's top singles ranking was World No. 93, achieved in late October 1990. He captured one challenger tournament, the 1989 Winnetka Challenger, and reached the semi-finals in one Grand Prix event, the 1990 Rio de Janeiro Open. Marianne Werdel
Marianne Werdel (born October 17, 1967) is an American former professional tennis player. Werdel was born in Los Angeles and played on the WTA Tour from 1982 to 1997. She is also known as Marianne Witmeyer or Werdel-Witmeyer. She won 19 national junior titles. In 1988 Werdel suffered a partially herniated disc, forcing a two-month absence from the tour. At the 1995 Australian Open, unseeded Marianne Werdel defeated fifth-seeded Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina in a first-round match. Werdel won the first set, but Sabatini raced out to a 3–0 lead in the second set before twice losing her serve. Kelly Evernden
Kelly Graeme Evernden (born 21 September 1961) is a former professional tennis player from New Zealand. Evernden turned professional in 1985 and won his first tour doubles title in 1986 at Cologne. His first top-level singles title came in 1987 at Bristol. His best singles performance at a Grand Slam event came at the 1987 Australian Open, where he reached the quarter-finals by defeating Jonathan Canter, Johan Kriek, Brad Pearce and Derrick Rostagno before being knocked-out by Wally Masur. Evernden represented New Zealand at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. Over the course of his career, Evernden won three top-level singles titles, the last of which was won in 1989 at Wellington. The 1990 IBM ATP Tour was the first season of the ATP Tour, the newly formed tennis circuit which came in to replace the Grand Prix and WCT tournaments. It was the elite tour for professional tennis organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals. WTA Tier IV Tournaments
The WTA Tier IV tournaments were Women's Tennis Association fourth-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years, with tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled.
