The 1990 Cincinnati Reds season was the 121st season for the franchise in Major League Baseball, and their 21st and 20th full season at Riverfront Stadium. Starting with a team best nine straight wins to open the season, as well as holding the top spot in the National League West every game during the season, the Reds went 41–21 after 62 games, splitting the remaining 100 games 50–50 to end up with a 91–71 record. National League West
The National League West is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was created for the 1969 season when the National League (baseball), National League (NL) expanded to 12 teams by adding the San Diego Padres and the Montreal Expos. For purpose of keeping a regular-season of 162 games, half of the teams were put into the new National League East, East Division and half into the new West Division. Within each division, the teams played 18 games each against their five division mates (90 games), and also 12 games against the teams in the opposite division (72 games), totaling 162 games. Hal Morris
William Harold Morris III (born April 9, 1965) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) first baseman who played for several teams from 1988 to 2000, including a ten year stint with the Cincinnati Reds. From until 2016, he was the director of professional scouting for the Los Angeles Angels. High school and college career Morris attended Munster High School in Munster, Indiana, and the University of Michigan. While at Munster, he was a three time all Lake Suburban Conference baseball player. He was an Indiana Baseball All Star in 1983, and was named the MVP of the annual North-South All Star Game in Jasper, Indiana, where he went 8-9 in the series. Van Voorhees Snider (born August 11, 1963) is an American former Major League Baseball outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds. Snider attended Shades Valley High School in Alabama where, in 1981, he committed to play college baseball for the UAB Blazers. In November 1981, however, he was attending Gadsden State Junior College when he signed a professional contract with the Kansas City Royals. He played parts of two seasons for the Cincinnati Reds in 1988 and 1989. Timothy James Leary (born December 23, 1958) is an American former professional baseball right-handed pitcher. Amateur career Leary posted a 10–2 record in his senior year at Santa Monica High School, and was named to the All-California Interscholastic Federation first-team. He went 19–1 to lead his American Legion Baseball team to the national championship. Much more in stature than his teammate and fellow former major leaguer, Rod Allen, he received the opportunity to play college baseball at UCLA. Kip Lee Gross (born August 24, 1964) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played for the Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers, Nippon-Ham Fighters, Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros in Major League Baseball and Nippon Professional Baseball between 1990 and 2000. John Anthony Franco (born September 17, 1960) is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a left-handed relief pitcher between and .
