1989 Torneo Descentralizado
The 1989 Torneo Descentralizado, the top tier of Peruvian football was played by 42 teams in the format of Regional Tournaments. The national champion was Unión Huaral. Due to the 1989 Copa América, a minor tournament ( 1989 Torneo Plácido Galindo) was played during the season by 42 clubs. The winner would qualify for the Liguilla Regional II Playoffs. Club Alianza Atlético de Sullana, shorted to Alianza Atlético, is a Peru, Peruvian professional association football, football club, located in the city of Sullana. Club Sporting Cristal S.A., shortened to Sporting Cristal, is a Peruvian sports club located in the city of Lima, best known for its association football, soccer team. Club Sport Unión Huaral, more commonly known as Unión Huaral, is a Peru, Peruvian association football, football club, from the city of Huaral. It was founded in 1947 and currently competes in the Peruvian Tercera División. History The Club Sport Unión Huaral was founded at the initiative of a group of enthusiastic young men who, meeting at the home of Don Nicolás Pintado, decided to form the neighborhood football team under the name of Club Unión, since most of them lived on Unión Street. Colegio Nacional Iquitos (usually referred to as CNI) is a Peruvian football team based in the city of Iquitos which was founded in 1926. CNI is the biggest club in the city of Iquitos and currently is not playing in any league.
