Silverstone Circuit 1987 To 1988
Silverstone is a village and civil parish in the West Northamptonshire unitary authority area of Northamptonshire, England. The village is about south-southwest of Towcester and northeast of Brackley, both accessed via the A43 road, A43 main road which now bypasses Silverstone to the south and east. The village is also about south-southwest of Northampton, west-northwest of Milton Keynes, and east-northeast of Banbury. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 2,176. The village's name probably means 'farm/settlement of Saewulf/Sigewulf'. Petrus Dionysius Lambertus Theodorus Kox (born 23 February 1964 in Eindhoven) is a racing driver from the Netherlands. Kox began racing in karts in 1978, winning five titles until 1982. In 1983 he moved to automobiles, winning the Marlboro Formula Ford Challenge and was second and third in the Benelux and Dutch Formula Ford 2000 Championships, respectively, the following year. His single-seater racing career was interrupted several times and only took off in 1989 when he won the Benelux Formula Opel Championship in 1989. In 1990 Kox raced in the British Formula 3 Championship where he came third with two victories. He moved up to Formula 3000 in 1991, staying there for two seasons and winning one race. Joachim Winkelhock (born 24 October 1960) is a German motor racing driver. He competed in and won German Formula Three before moving onto Formula One. Winkelhock would compete in the 1989 season of F1 with the Automobiles Gonfaronnaises Sportives where he would fail to qualify for a race before being replaced mid season with driver Yannick Dalmas. After his brief stint in Formula One Winkelhock would later race in Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft until 2003. The height of Winkelhock's career was his 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans win for BMW. Csaba Kesjár (9 February 1962 – 24 June 1988) was a Hungarian racing driver who was born in Budapest and died in Norisring, Nuremberg. Career Csaba Kesjár's father János and his grandfather were also racing drivers. He began to race go-karts in his native Hungary in 1975 and went on to become the national champion on several occasions. Kesjár moved on to participate in the Hungarian Formula Easter series between 1982 and 1985, winning four consecutive championship titles.
