American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. Pac-12 Conference
The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference, that operates in the Western United States, participating in 24 sports at the NCAA Division I level. Its College football, football teams compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the highest level of college football in the nation. The conference's 12 members are located in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington (state), Washington. 1987 NCAA Division I-A Football Season
The 1987 NCAA Division I-A football season ended with Miami winning its second national championship of the 1980s in an Orange Bowl game featuring a rare No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup between the top ranked Oklahoma Sooners and the Hurricanes. Miami's first three games were against ranked opponents in what was labeled a rebuilding year. After some late game theatrics by Michael Irvin against rival Florida State, the Hurricanes were 3–0, the national media started to take notice. Oklahoma was also seen as quite the juggernaut, averaging 428.8 yards rushing per game with their potent wishbone offense. Miami was able to hold Oklahoma to just 179 yards on the ground, winning the game 20–14. Also having notable seasons were Syracuse, LSU and Florida State. Troy Aikman
Troy Kenneth Aikman (born November 21, 1966) is an American former football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. After transferring from Oklahoma, he played college football at UCLA, where he won the Davey O'Brien Award as a senior. Aikman was selected first overall in the 1989 NFL Draft by the Cowboys, with whom he received six Pro Bowl selections and won three Super Bowl titles. He was also named MVP of Super Bowl XXVII, the franchise's first title in over a decade. Aikman was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008. Gaston Green
Gaston Alfred Green III (born August 1, 1966) is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Raiders. He played college football for the UCLA Bruins, Biography Green was born in Los Angeles, California. He played prep football at Gardena High School in Los Angeles, and played college football at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 1st round (14th overall) of the 1988 NFL Draft. He was a 5'10", 189-lb. running back from UCLA. David Richards (American Football)
David Reed Richards (born April 11, 1966) is a former professional American football guard who played nine seasons in the National Football League. A standout at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas, the 6-foot-5, 310-pound Richards was the first lineman to be named Parade Magazine's National High School Player of the Year in 1983. In college, he was an All- Southwest Conference selection at guard as a sophomore at Southern Methodist University. The following season, he earned All-SWC honors as a tackle at SMU. Randall McDaniel
Randall Cornell McDaniel (born December 19, 1964) is an American former football player who played as a guard in the National Football League (NFL). Early career McDaniel played high school football and ran track at Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Arizona, then played college football at Arizona State University, where he participated in the school's first ever Rose Bowl appearance in 1987. In recognition of his Rose Bowl accomplishments, McDaniel was inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 2018. Michael Leslie Zandofsky (born November 30, 1965) is a former American football offensive lineman who played in the National Football League (NFL). Early life Zandofsky attended Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Oregon and starred in football, wrestling, and baseball. He helped lead the Corvallis Spartans to a 3A Oregon State Championship in 1983. He was also the 3A Oregon State wrestling champion in the heavyweight class in 1983. Terrance J. Tumey is an American former football player and coach. He became the Director of Athletics for Fresno State University on August 1, 2018, having been appointed June 21. Prior to Fresno State, he served as Director of Athletics at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, at UC Davis from 2012 to 2015, and Dominican University in San Rafael from 2009 to 2012. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he spent many years in football, both as a player and a coach. Carnell Augustino Lake (born July 15, 1967) is an American former professional football player and coach who is the defensive backs coach for the Tampa Bay Bandits of the United States Football League (USFL). He was a safety and cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). He is a member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team. He was the cornerbacks coach for the UCLA Bruins under head coach Rick Neuheisel in 2009 before leaving after one season for family reasons. Ken Norton Jr
Kenneth Howard Norton Jr. (born September 29, 1966) is an American football coach and former linebacker who most recently served as the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL) from 2018 to 2021. He is the son of Ken Norton, former world champion heavyweight boxer. Early years Norton Jr. is a graduate of Westchester High School in California, where he played as a running back averaging 8.8 yards per carry as a senior. He went on to play at UCLA from 1984 to 1987, where he was converted to linebacker, the position he would play for the remainder of his football career.
