Enfield London Borough Council, which styles itself Enfield Council, is the local authority for the London Borough of Enfield in Greater London, England. It is a London borough council, one of 32 in London. The council has been under Labour Party (UK), Labour majority control since 2010. It is based at Enfield Civic Centre. History The first elected local authority for Enfield, London, Enfield was a Local board of health, local board, established in 1850. Such boards were reconstituted as Urban district (England and Wales), urban district councils under the Local Government Act 1894. London Residuary Body
The London Residuary Body was a body set up on 12 August 1985 to dispose of the assets of the Greater London Council (GLC) after the council's abolition in 1986. Governance The LRB was chaired throughout its existence by Sir Godfrey Taylor. In 1986 Tony Banks, Baron Stratford, Tony Banks had two adjournment debates on the LRB, which he said "exists in a vain attempt to clear up the appalling mess left in London following the Government's ill-conceived, ill-considered and ill-finished abolition of the Greater London council", and called "an unelected, unaccountable body whose members were hand-picked by the Government". Work Among the GLC assets disposed of by the LRB was County Hall, London, County Hall and Parliament Hill Lido. Alan Amos
Alan Thomas Amos (born 10 November 1952) is a British politician who sat as Conservative Member of Parliament for Hexham from 1987 to 1992. After a spell in the Labour Party, he was elected as a Conservative member of Worcester City Council and of Worcestershire County Council, but left the party to sit as an independent.
