The 1985 Lorraine Open was a men's tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts in Nancy, France, and was part of the 1985 Nabisco Grand Prix. The tournament took place from 18 March through 24 March 1985. First-seeded Tim Wilkison won the singles title. Grand Prix Tennis Circuit
The ITF Grand Prix Circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players founded in 1970 as the ILTF Grand Prix Tennis Circuit it was administered by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and ran annually until 1989 when it and the rival WCT Circuit were replaced by a single world wide ATP Tour. The women's tour the ILTF Women's International Grand Prix Circuit ran from 1971 to 1976. It's events were absorbed to form the Colgate International Series. The Lorraine Open is a defunct men's tennis tournament that was played as part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit from 1979 to 1989. It was held in Lorraine, one of the 26 regions of France. The tour incorporated the four ITF grand slam tournaments, three World Championship Tennis tournaments and the Grand Prix tournaments. Total prize money for the circuit was $23 million. The circuit was administered by the Men's International Professional Tennis Council (MIPTC). In November 1985 the MIPTC sued player–management agencies ProServ and IMG alleging that these firms were holding the tennis game hostage and were 'exerting extensive power over players'. The 1985 circuit marked the last time the Australian Open was held in November before moving to its current slot in January. Jonas Bengt Svensson (; born 21 October 1966) is a former professional tennis player from Sweden. During his career, Svensson was a French Open semi-finalist twice (in 1988 and 1990) both times as unseeded player. In the 1988 French Open he defeated Ivan Lendl in the quarters and lost to Henri Leconte in the semis. Jaroslav Navrátil (born 28 July 1957) is a Czech tennis coach and a former professional player. Navrátil had most of his tennis success while playing doubles. During his career, he achieved a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 31 in 1987. Slobodan Živojinović
Slobodan "Boba" Živojinović ( sr-Cyrl, Слободан Живојиновић, ; born 23 July 1963) is a Serbian former professional tennis player who competed for SFR Yugoslavia. Together with Nenad Zimonjić, he is the only tennis player from Serbia to be the world No. 1 in doubles. As a singles player, he reached the semifinals of the 1985 Australian Open and the 1986 Wimbledon Championships, achieving a career-high ranking of world No. 19 in October 1987. A carpet court is a type of tennis court. The International Tennis Federation describes the surface as a "textile or polymeric material supplied in rolls or sheets of finished product". It is one of the fastest court types, second only to grass courts. The use of carpet courts in ATP Tour competitions ended in 2009. In women's tennis, no WTA Tour tournaments have used carpet courts since the last edition of the Tournoi de Québec in 2018.
