1983–84 Santosh Trophy
The 1983–84 Santosh Trophy was the 40th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main States and union territories of India, State competition for football in India. It was held in April 1984 in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu. Goa football team, Goa beat Punjab football team, Punjab 1–0 in the final to win the competition for their second time, and first as only-holders, after they held the trophy along with West Bengal football team, West Bengal in the previous edition. Arnold Rodrigues and Camilo Gonsalves (both Goa) were named the best Forward (association football), forward and best player of the tournament respectively. The Goa side was captained by goalkeeper Brahmanand Sankhwalkar for second time.He ended the tournament with a Shutout, clean sheet. The Goa football team is an Indian football team representing the state of Goa in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy. Goa made their Santosh Trophy debut in the 1964 Madras Nationals. They have appeared in the Santosh Trophy finals 13 times, and have won the trophy 5 times. The Karnataka football team (), also earlier the Mysore football team, is an Indian football team representing Karnataka in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy. They have appeared in the Santosh Trophy finals 9 times, and have won the trophy 4 times. Prior to 1972, the team competed as ''Mysore''. Pem Dorji
Pem Dorji was an Indian former footballer from Sikkim who played as a defender and represented the India national football team in international tournaments including the 1984 Asian Cup. He also played for the major Calcutta clubs Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Mohammedan Sporting. Sudip Chatterjee (footballer)
Sudip Chatterjee (15 December 1959 – 18 September 2006), nicknamed ''Tulu'', was an Indian international football player and coach. He started his career as a centre back and then moved to the right back position before switching to the midfielder role. As a midfielder, he was considered among the finest players in Indian football. He also managed Bengal in Santosh Trophy and won the 1998–99 edition. Playing career Sudip started his playing career with Howrah Sahajatri Club, where his skills were spotted by former India international Arun Ghosh. Babu Mani ( – 19 November 2022) was an Indian footballer who played for India as a forward in the 1984 AFC Asian Cup. He also played for Mohun Bagan.
