1983 NSL Cup
The 1983 NSL Cup was the seventh edition of the NSL Cup, which was the main national association football single-elimination tournament, knockout cup competition in Australia. The competition was known as the Philips Cup under a sponsorship arrangement with Dutch company Philips. APIA Leichhardt FC, APIA Leichhardt were the defending champions, having defeated Heidelberg United FC, Heidelberg United to win their first title in the previous year's 1982 NSL Cup final, final, but they were eliminated in the final by Sydney Olympic FC, Sydney Olympic. Sydney Olympic defeated Heidelberg United 2–0 on aggregate in the 1983 NSL Cup final, final to win their first NSL Cup title. Sydney Olympic FC
Sydney Olympic Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club, based in Belmore, Sydney, New South Wales, that plays in the National Premier Leagues NSW. The club was founded as Pan-Hellenic Soccer Club in 1957 by Greek immigrants. Sir Philip Redmond (born 10 June 1949) is an English television producer and screenwriter. He is known for creating the television series ''Grange Hill'', ''Brookside'' and ''Hollyoaks''. Early life and education Redmond was born in Huyton, England. He took the 11-plus and passed, but attended St Kevin's RC School in Northwood, Kirkby (it became All Saints Catholic High School, Kirkby). His mother was a cleaner and his father was a bus driver. Redmond left school with four O-levels and one A-level and trained to become a quantity surveyor. He studied Sociology at the University of Liverpool. Canberra City Football Club, also known for some time as the Canberra Arrows, is a semi-professional association football, soccer club based in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Perry Park is a 5,000-capacity sporting ground located in the Brisbane suburb of Bowen Hills. Perry Park is home to the Brisbane Strikers, which plays in Queensland Premier League 1.
