1982 WTA Tour
The 1982 WTA Tour was the 10th season since the foundation of the Women's Tennis Association. It commenced on 4 January 1982, and concluded on 19 December 1982, after 36 events. The WTA Tour was the elite tour for professional women's tennis organised by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). The tour consistent of two major circuits, the Avon Championships World Championship Series and the ''Toyota Series''. It included the four Grand Slam tournaments and a series of other events. ITF tournaments were not part of the tour, although they awarded points for the WTA World Ranking. Ann Kiyomura
Ann Kiyomura-Hayashi (born August 22, 1955) is a retired American professional tennis player. She is from San Mateo, California. Early years Born in San Mateo, California, Kiyomura was the youngest of four children. Her father Harry was a tennis instructor, while her American born mother Hisayo had become Japan's number ranked player during her two year residency in Japan. At age nine, Kiyomura won the San Mateo County Recreation Department's tennis tournament. She continued to excel at tennis while attending Aragon High School in San Mateo. Susan Barker (born 19 April 1956) is a British former television presenter and professional tennis player. During her playing career, Barker won 15 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including a major at the 1976 French Open. She reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 3. Leslie Allen (born March 12, 1957) is an American retired professional tennis player. Career Unranked in junior tennis, Leslie Allen was an ATA, NCAA & WTA Champion. Allen was a member of the University of Southern California national championship team and in 1977 graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications. Bettina Bunge (born 13 June 1963) is a retired German tennis player. Born in Adliswil, Switzerland, she was part of a large group of successful German players in the 1980s, which also included Steffi Graf, Claudia Kohde-Kilsch, Sylvia Hanika, and Eva Pfaff.
