The Eastern Zone was one of the three regional zones of the 1982 Davis Cup. 10 teams entered the Eastern Zone in total, with the winner promoted to the following year's World Group. 1982 Davis Cup
The 1982 Davis Cup (also known as the 1982 Davis Cup by NEC for sponsorship purposes) was the 71st edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 58 teams would enter the competition, 16 in the World Group, 22 in the Europe Zone, 10 in the Americas Zone, and 10 in the Eastern Zone. Adam Malik (tennis)
Adam Malik (born 10 May 1967) is a former professional tennis player from Malaysia. Career Malik was just 14 when he made his Davis Cup debut for Malaysia, against Indonesia in 1982. He moved to Australia at the age of 16 to attend boarding school. After he completed his schooling he studied at the University of Kentucky in the United States. He played NCAA tennis for the University of Kentucky and was an All-American in both singles and doubles, before becoming the first ever Malaysian player to turn professional. It would be in doubles that he had most of his success on the ATP Tour. Malik and his former NCAA partner, Rich Benson, made the semi-finals of the Kuala Lumpur Open in 1993. Also that year, Malik and Francisco Montana, upset top seeds Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis at the 1993 Schenectady Open. Yustedjo Tarik
Mohammad Yustedjo Tarik (born 30 August 1953), known as Yustedjo Tarik or Tedjo, is an Indonesian former professional tennis player. He was the 1979 Southeast Asian Games and 1982 Asian Games singles champion. Davis Cup career Born and raised in Jakarta, Tarik made his debut for the Indonesia Davis Cup team in 1973. During his Davis Cup career, which spanned 14-years, he had wins in 13 singles rubbers, one of which was over India's Anand Amritraj in 1981. Tintus Arianto Wibowo (born 19 August 1960) is an Indonesian former professional tennis player. Biography Born in Surabaya, Wibowo was a regular fixture in the Indonesia Davis Cup team during the 1980s, featuring in a total of 17 ties. This includes World Group appearances in 1983 and 1989, where he played singles rubbers against Mats Wilander in the former and Boris Becker in the latter. Wibowo was a two-time Southeast Asian Games singles champion and also represented Indonesia at the Asian Games. He won an Asian Games gold medal in the team event at New Delhi in 1982 and a mixed doubles bronze medal in Seoul in 1986. Together with his wife, Federation Cup player Suzanna Anggarkusuma, Wibowo runs the ''Lucky Tennis School'' in Jakarta. Kelvin Ng (born November 10, 1958) is a former territorial and municipal level politician in Canada who was elected in both the Nunavut Legislature and Northwest Territories Legislature. Ng began his political career on the municipal level. He has served on municipal council and as Mayor of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Ng ran for a seat in the 1995 Northwest Territories general election. He defeated incumbent MLA Ernest Bernhardt to win the Kitikmeot electoral district. Ng served one term in the Northwest Territories Legislature, becoming a cabinet Minister in the government.
