1981 Open Championship
The 1981 Open Championship was a men's major golf championship and the 110th Open Championship, held from 16 to 19 July at Royal St George's Golf Club in Sandwich, England. Bill Rogers won his only major championship, four strokes ahead of runner-up Bernhard Langer. The Open returned to Royal St. George's for the first time since 1949, making it a new venue for all; no former champions finished in the top ten. Sandwich, England
Sandwich is a town and civil parish in the Dover District of Kent, south-east England. It lies on the River Stour, Kent, River Stour and has a population of 4,985. Sandwich was one of the Cinque Ports and still has many original medieval buildings, including several listed building, listed public houses and gates in the old town walls, churches, almshouses and the White Mill, Sandwich, White Mill. David Graham (golfer)
Anthony David Graham, AM (born 23 May 1946) is an Australian golfer. Graham turned pro as a teenager and had much success on the Australasian circuits in his youth, winning several tournaments. In 1972, he joined the PGA Tour where he continued with success, winning several tournaments. This culminated with major tournament wins at the 1979 PGA Championship and 1981 U.S. Open. Tom Watson (golfer)
Thomas Sturges Watson (born September 4, 1949) is an American golfer. In the 1970s and 1980s, Watson was one of the leading golfers in the world, winning eight major championships and heading the PGA Tour money list five times. Sam Torrance
Samuel Robert Torrance (born 24 August 1953) is a Scotland, Scottish professional golfer and sports commentator. He was one of the leading players on the European Tour from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s, with 21 Tour wins. Torrance was a member of European Ryder Cup teams on eight occasions consecutively; on Cup-winning teams four times. He was also part of the winning Scotland team at the 1995 Dunhill Cup. Mark Hugh James (born 28 October 1953) is an English professional golfer who had a long career on the European Tour and captained Europe in the 1999 Ryder Cup. David Jagger (golfer)
David Jagger (born 9 June 1949) is an English professional golfer. Jagger was born in Sheffield. He played on the European Tour for many years, where he was renowned as a joker, but had most of his success playing on the Safari Circuit in Africa during the European winters in the 1970s and 1980s. He won several tournaments on that circuit, including the Nigerian Open three times, and topped the money list in 1982. He also recorded a round of 59 during the pro-am prior to the 1973 Nigerian Open. His best placing on the European Order of Merit was 26th in 1976. Ben Daniel Crenshaw (born January 11, 1952) is a retired American professional golfer who has won 19 events on the PGA Tour, including two major championships: the Masters Tournament in 1984 and 1995. Howard Keith Clark (born 26 August 1954) is an English professional golfer who played on the European Tour for many years and had his most successful period in the mid-1980s. Early life and amateur career Clark was born in Leeds, England. He learned the game from his father, who was a scratch amateur. Hal Evan Sutton (born April 28, 1958) is an American professional golfer, currently playing on the PGA Tour Champions, who achieved 14 victories on the PGA Tour, including the 1983 PGA Championship (a major championship) and the 1983 and 2000 Players Championships. Sutton was also the PGA Tour's leading money winner in 1983 and named Player of the Year.
