1981 Chicago Bears Season
The 1981 season was the Chicago Bears' 62nd in the National Football League, and their fourth under head coach Neill Armstrong. The team failed to improve on their 7–9 record from 1980 to finish at 6–10, and failed to make the playoffs for the second consecutive season. At the end of the season, Neill Armstrong was fired by the Bears. NFC Central
The National Football Conference – Northern Division or NFC North is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Nicknamed the "Black and Blue Division" for the rough and tough rivalry games between the teams, it currently has four members: the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings, with the latter three based within most definitions of the Upper Midwest. Tim Clifford
Timothy R. Clifford Sr. (November 28, 1958 – October 23, 2024) was an American college football player who was a quarterback for the Indiana Hoosiers from 1977 to 1980. He won the Big Ten Most Valuable Player in 1979. Early life Clifford grew up in Cincinnati where he played football, basketball, baseball and track at Colerain High School. Indiana University Clifford attended the Indiana University Bloomington where he played varsity football and baseball. He was a pitcher for the baseball team and played at the quarterback position for the school's football team from 1977 to 1980. He became the school's all-time leader in passing yardage. In his four years at Indiana, Clifford completed 333 of 631 passes for 4,338 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions. Jeff Fisher
Jeffrey Michael Fisher (born February 25, 1958) is an American professional football coach and former cornerback and return specialist. He served as a head coach in the National Football League (NFL) for 22 seasons, primarily with the Houston / Tennessee Oilers / Titans franchise. Fisher coached the Oilers / Titans from 1994 to 2010 and the St. Louis / Los Angeles Rams from 2012 to 2016. Reuben Stanley Henderson, D.O. (born October 3, 1958) is an American former professional football player who played cornerback for four seasons for the Chicago Bears and the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). Todd Bell
Todd Anthony Bell (November 28, 1958 – March 16, 2005) was an American professional football player who was a safety for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) during the early 1980s. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. College After graduating from Middletown High School, in Middletown, Ohio, Bell was given a scholarship to play for Ohio State University. He was a four-year starter at defensive back, playing as a roverback, a hybrid of the strong safety and linebacker positions. His biggest moment at Ohio State was a game-winning touchdown in his junior year against rival Michigan on November 17, 1979.
