1978 Spanish Trade Union Representative Elections
Elections of trade union representatives were held across Spain in the first months of 1978.Domínguez, Justo, and Angel Zaragoza. Pactos sociales, sindicatos y patronal en España'. Madrid: Siglo Veintiuno, 1988. pp. 79-80 These were the first democratic union elections in 40 years. According to the state news agency EFE, elections were held in 29,918 companies for a total of 124,579 representative posts during the first three months of 1978 (these figures did however exclude the two largest companies in the country, the railways RENFE and Telefonica). Ricardo Zamora
Ricardo Zamora Martínez (; 21 January 1901 – 8 September 1978) was a Spanish footballer and manager. He played as a goalkeeper for, among others, RCD Espanyol, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. As an international he played for Spain. As a manager, he won two La Liga titles with Atlético Madrid (then Atlético Aviación) and briefly managed Spain. Club career RCD Espanyol Born in Barcelona, Spain, Zamora began his career as a junior with Universitari SC before signing for Espanyol in 1916, at the age of fifteen, after playing a series of friendly matches with the club. He made his debut for the club on 23 April 1916 against Madrid FC (now Real Madrid CF), keeping a clean sheet in a goalless draw. He then helped Espanyol win the Campionat de Catalunya in 1918. Xavier Tondó
Xavier Tondo Volpini (5 November 1978 in Valls, Spain – 23 May 2011 in Monachil, Spain) was a Spanish professional road racing cyclist who specialized in mountain stages of bicycle races. Death Tondo was killed after being apparently trapped between his own garage door and car, and crushed by the door, while preparing his bicycle for a training ride. Teammate Beñat Intxausti was with him at the time of the accident. To commemorate Xavier Tondo the 100%Tondo sportive is held yearly, starting in Sant Joan les Fonts and finishing in Vallter 2000. Doping refusal In February 2011, it was reported that a pro cyclist had tipped off police about a doping ring. Tondo was later identified as that cyclist. According to the Spanish newspaper ''El País'', Tondo received an email in December 2010, which offered several doping products, including erythropoietin, EPO, human growth hormone, Nandrolone, and Clenbuterol, all at low prices. Ignacio "Iñaki" Rueda (born 6 August 1978) is a Spanish Formula One engineer who was the Head of Race Strategy and Sporting for Formula One team Scuderia Ferrari from 2021 to 2023. He is now the Sporting Director of Sauber Motorsport AG ahead of their transformation into Audi on campaign, replacing Beat Zehnder. Career Rueda started his career in motorsport when he raced in motocross from 1991 to 1999 while from 1997 to 2003, he was enrolled at the University of Colorado, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in Vehicle Dynamics, Controls and Systems. Eager to work in Formula One, Rueda completed a motorsport master's degree at Cranfield University, UK. Alessandra Aguilar Morán (born 1 July 1978 in Lugo) is a Spanish long-distance runner who specialises in marathon running. She represented her country in the event at the 2008 Summer Olympics and at the World Championships in Athletics the following year and then at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the World Championships following that. Before focusing on the marathon, she competed mainly in cross country running competitions.
