1977 CONCACAF Championship
The 1977 CONCACAF Championship, the seventh edition of the CONCACAF Championship, was held in Mexico from 8 to 23 October. Mexico national football team, Mexico, as the host nation, easily secured a third title and a place in 1978 FIFA World Cup, Argentina '78 since the tournament also served as qualification to the World Cup. The North, Central American and Caribbean zone was allocated 1 place (out of 16) in the final tournament. Víctor Rangel (Mexican Footballer)
Víctor Rangel Ayala (born 11 March 1957) is a Mexican former Association football, footballer, currently manager of Atlético Mexiquense of the Mexican Primera Division A. Career Born in Mexico City, Rangel played club football for Club Deportivo Guadalajara, Club León, Atlético Potosino and Ángeles de Puebla. He won a gold medal in football at the 1975 Pan American Games. He scored 3 goals at the 1976 Summer Olympics, 1976 Olympic Games and he scored 1 goal for the Mexico national football team in the 1978 FIFA World Cup. Remie Jacques Olmberg (born August 28, 1950) is a retired Surinamese footballer who played as a defender for SV Robinhood in the Hoofdklasse, and the Suriname national team. He was the team captain for SV Robinhood for a decade during one of the club's most successful periods, having won three national titles and finishing as runners-up in the CONCACAF Champions Cup on three occasions as well. Les "Buzz" Parsons (born 16 December 1950) is a Canadian former soccer player who played at both professional and international levels as a midfielder. During his career in North America with the Vancouver Whitecaps, Parsons was affectionately known as "White Shoes", owing to the white boots he wore. After retiring as a player, Parsons later became a professional soccer coach. Career Club career Parsons played youth football in England with Huddersfield Town and Ipswich Town, but he never made a senior league appearance for either team. Ramón Ivanoes Barreto Ruiz (14 September 1939 – 4 April 2015) was a Uruguayan professional association football referee. He is the only referee in the history of the FIFA World Cup to have been appointed to two consecutive Final matches: in 1974 in Munich, and in 1978 in Buenos Aires.
