1976 Eisenhower Trophy
The 1976 Eisenhower Trophy took place 13 to 16 October at the Penina Hotel & Golf Resort in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal. It was the tenth World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 38 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. Great Britain and Ireland won the Eisenhower Trophy for the second time, finishing two strokes ahead of the silver medalists, Japan, who had also been runners-up in 1974. Australia took the bronze medal, three strokes further behind, while team Republic of China finished fourth. Chen Tze-ming from Republic of China and Ian Hutcheon, representing Great Britain and Ireland, had the lowest individual scores, one-over-par 293. Teams 38 four-man teams contested the event. Portimão () is a city and a municipality in the district of Faro, in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. The population in 2011 was 55,614, in an area of 182.06 km2. Doug Roxburgh
Doug Roxburgh (born December 28, 1951) is a Canadian accountant, amateur golfer, and golf administrator. He has won the Canadian Amateur Championship four times, the B.C. Amateur Championship a record 13 times, and is a member of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. Roxburgh was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He learned golf as a youth, and was runner-up in the Canadian Junior Championship in 1967 at age 15. He scored his first important success in the 1969 B.C. James Cameron Nelford (born June 28, 1955) is a Canadian professional golfer, who has played on the PGA Tour. He has also been a golf commentator for ESPN. Jaime Gonzalez (golfer)
Jaime Gonzalez (born 25 July 1954) is a Brazilian professional golfer. He is one of the few from his country to have enjoyed success on the international circuit. Gonzalez was born in São Paulo to a golfing family. His father Mário won the Spanish Open as an amateur in 1947. Gonzalez had a lot of success an amateur, winning the Brazil Amateur Championship three times (1969, 1971, 1972) as a teenager. He would win the tournament one more time when he was in college. He attended Oklahoma State University in the United States and won the individual title at the 1974 Eisenhower Trophy. Gonzalez turned professional in 1977 and shortly thereafter represented Brazil twice in the World Cup, in 1978 and 1979. Priscillo Diniz
Jose Priscillo G. Diniz (born 12 December 1948) is a Brazilian professional golfer. Diniz was born in São Paulo. He comes from a family which boasts several other professional golfers, including his grandfather, but he did not turn professional himself until the age of 28, having previously been a practicing lawyer. As an amateur he was twice Brazilian Amateur champion and he also won the 1975 South American Amateur Championship.
