The 1974 Commercial Union Assurance Grand Prix was a professional tennis circuit administered by the International Lawn Tennis Federation (ILTF) which served as a forerunner to the current Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. The circuit consisted of the four modern Grand Slam tournaments and open tournaments recognised by the ILTF. The season-ending Commercial Union Assurance Masters and Davis Cup Final are included in this calendar but did not count towards the Grand Prix ranking. Jeanne Evert
Jeanne Colette Dubin ( Evert; October 5, 1957 – February 20, 2020) was an American professional tennis player and the younger sister of Chris Evert. She was ranked as high as 28th by the WTA in 1978 and ninth within the United States in 1974. She reached the third round of the U.S. Open in 1973 and 1978. She won all four of her Fed Cup matches for the U.S. in 1974. Evert made her professional debut at age 15 in 1973 at what is now known as the Cincinnati Masters. She reached the singles semifinals before falling to Evonne Goolagong, and is still the youngest player to reach the semifinals in Cincinnati in the Open Era. She also paired with her sister Chris to reach the semifinals in doubles, before losing to Goolagong and Janet Young. Jürgen Fassbender (german: Faßbender, born 28 May 1948) is a retired German tennis player. On the ATP Tour, Fassbender won three singles and 15 doubles titles. Clay
Clay is a type of fine-grained natural soil material containing clay minerals (hydrous aluminium phyllosilicates, e.g. kaolin, Al2 Si2 O5( OH)4).
