This is a list of the 1974 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. Tournament summary After three 72-hole regional qualifiers, there were 78 players in the 144-hole final qualifying tournament. The finals were played over two weeks in November at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California and Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs, California. The top 19 players earned their tour card. Fuzzy Zoeller was the medalist. Bob Risch finished runner-up in what was his fourth attempt to earn playing privileges. Silverado Country Club
The Silverado Resort and Spa is a golf, tennis, and spa resort in Napa County, California, United States. The venue is named after the Silverado Mine, a quicksilver mine near Mount Saint Helena. The resort is the fifth largest employer in Napa County. The United States Census Bureau has designated the area surrounding the Silverado Resort as a separate census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes. The population of the CDP was 1,095 at the 2010 census. In October 2017, parts of the resort were damaged by wildfires; flames arrived hours after the conclusion of the Safeway Open. Frank Conner (golfer)
Frank Conner (born January 11, 1946) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, and Champions Tour. He was also an accomplished amateur tennis player. He, Ellsworth Vines and G. H. "Pete" Bostwick Jr. are the only men to play in the U.S. Open in both tennis and golf. Early life and amateur career Conner was born in Vienna, Austria, where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army. He competed in the U.S. Open in tennis in 1965, 1966 U.S. National Championships - Men's Singles, 1966, and 1967 U.S. National Championships - Men's Singles, 1967. He attended Trinity University (Texas), Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, graduating in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration. The annual PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, also known as Qualifying School or Q-School, was historically the main method by which golfers earned PGA Tour playing privileges, commonly known as a Tour card. From 2013 to 2022, Q-School granted privileges only for the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Tour's official developmental circuit, but in 2023 it began to again award a small number of PGA Tour cards. Dan Halldorson
Daniel Albert Halldorson (April 2, 1952 – November 18, 2015) was a Canadian professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Canadian Tour. Early life Halldorson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and raised in Brandon, Manitoba. Professional career In 1971, Halldorson turned pro. He joined the Canadian Tour in 1973 and the PGA Tour in 1975. Halldorson had seven career wins on the Canadian Tour and its predecessors. He won one official PGA Tour event, the 1980 Pensacola Open, and finished a career best 36th on the PGA Tour money list that year. He won the unofficial Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic in 1986. Florentino Molina (born 30 December 1938) is an Argentine professional golfer. Molina was born in Río Cuarto, Córdoba. He turned pro in 1960. He won the Argentine Open five times and the Argentine Professional Rankings four times. He played on the PGA Tour from 1975 to 1980 and the European Tour in 1981. California State Amateur
The California Amateur Championship or California Amateur is a golf championship held in California for the state's top amateur golfers. The tournament is run by the California Golf Association. Roger Lin Maltbie (born June 30, 1951) is an American professional golfer and on-course analyst for NBC Sports. Early life Maltbie was born in Modesto, California and grew up in San Jose. He attended James Lick High School where he was a teammate of former PGA Tour player Forrest Fezler. Amateur career Maltbie attended San Jose City College (1970–1971) and then San Jose State University. He was a member of the golf team at both institutions. He also practiced at San Jose Country Club. Professional career Maltbie turned professional in 1973 and joined the PGA Tour in 1974. He played on the Tour full-time from 1975 to 1996.
